Cool, I've heard of that field several times before.....didn't know I was that close. [X(] I'm staying right on the airport........off Veterans Memorial Hwy, any clues on how to get there? Think there will be anyone there during the week? Thanks again for the info!

Robert,
I remember a field being close by with a paved runway. I don't know if anyone flys jets there or not. I believe it was in Hecksher State Park just to the SW of ISP
an I think it was the SE corner of the park but may be wrong.

Maybe someone knows more about it. I am pretty sure that is where it was but that was about 8-10 years ago.

There is still an active R/C field in Hecksher. When I visited this past summer, I drove around the park in a counter-clockwise direction and almost gave up when the field showed itself.
If weather becomes a factor, you can check out the museum at Republic airport and the Cradle of Aviation museum across the road from the Nassau Coliseum. I recommend both, but would choose Cradle of Aviation if time only allowed one choice.

PS Howdy Vinny!
