Default BVM wheel bushing question.

Hi

Is anyone changing out their BVM wheel bushings themselves? If so can you maybe run through how you do it? I am having a heck of a lot of galling and I need to change the bushings and I would like to try it at home as I do not want the shipping cost and down time.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Matt, I did it once and it wasn't to horrible an ordeal. Get a bolt ( I cant remember which size-8-32 or 10-24 it has been a while). Next drill out one bushing just fractionally larger than the bolt. Now tap the other side bushing to the bolt size. then thread the bolt thru the oversize hole into the tapped bushing. Then heat up the wheel with a heat gun and press out the bushing by pressing on the bolt head use a- drill press or a big hammer if you are in Bakersfield . Press out the other side using whatever fits in the wheel. I think on some of the older wheels you need to ream them to fit the new bushings-but I dont know how old the wheel has to be to fit that catagory- You will know when you get the old bushing out and mic it. Good luck, Scott

Thanks Scott, I will try your technique. I am sure I can mess it up real good!

I think my buddy has a reamer in that size too. I have never had this much trouble with BVM wheels, my guess is this is an old set where I tried to change the bushings myself!!

Thanks again,

Matt
