Default ram 1000x

My RAM engine which only has 5 runs on it, the last run was perfect the next time I tried to start it it fired off on the propane and the starter motor kept running I shut it down and and i have burned up the starter motor. I have noticed that the rpm reading on the hand held display is always reading 5 not 0. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Your help is appreciated

Default RAM1000X RPM readout

Hi there

It may be that the RPM sensor under the front cover needs to be de-gaussed, or in fact faulty.

Try passing a magnet over the device under the cover. Sometimes you can do it from outside, but if you have to open it up, watch all the wiring and tubes are OK when you re-assemble it.

Pass the magnet a couple of times over and around the sensor.

If it still reads wrong then it probably needs a new RPM sensor.

Contact Carlos Villareal at [email protected] he'll have them in stock.

The ECU has taken a dump. Pretty common with the Remote Start ECU, it's very fragile. I've had several fail and have never received one back from the 2 I sent to Bob Price many months ago.

Hi Jet Guy

Thanks for letting me know that the magnet trick worked OK.
