Default Maverick Turbine Conversion

Hello,
Does anyone have the Maverick turbine conversion information that was circulating around about 2-3 years ago? I have a NIB Maverick complete that I had forgotten about and would like to convert to either a MW-54 or Jetcat P-60 powered bird. I purchase the turbine inlet modifications from Gary Mueller about 2 1/2 years ago but I need to see how to do the conversion from A-Z to include sources for the fuel tanks and SS pipe. I have been out of the jet arena for several months due to a busy Army schedule, but I plan on retiring this summer with 26 years of active service and would like to build/fly until I grow up and get another job. Thanks for any and all help and hope to see you guys at the jet meets!!!

Hi Ken, I had one that was converted to SJ1200 and it flea pretty good on 12#.

A friend of mine has it and he is redoing it all over for a full bypass RAM 500.

I wish I could tell you more, other than it looks like a pretty simple duty.

I had started a major rebuild of my Maverick that crashed a few years ago when I found a good deal on an Artes Bee, so I decided to turbinize it. The Bee arrived today, so I'm fired up to get back to work on it.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of Maverick turbine installations, particularly ones without a bypass.

This has probably not been done before but after looking things over carefully I am thinking it might be slick to mount the turbine in the back, similar to the new Skymaster Gripen and F-16. This would free up space for fuel tanks and get the heat source away from servos and control rods. Additionally it would be lighter and a lot cheaper, without a tailpipe, bypass or custom fuel tanks. I'd appreciate any comments from knowledgeable individuals on this idea.

Ken,

I have a friend that just purchased a new almost ready to fly Maverick. It needs bat and balance. What does the book give for the balance point.

Thanks,
Kevin Thoele

The CG should be right on the front wing spar.
