Default The "RIG" Hovers!

Well, with the short stay at JOD I did not get to see a whole lot but...I did talk to Eddie about the Rig for a bit. On thursday they did some hovering tests again. From the footage Eddie showed me they had a good 40+ seconds of SOLID hover time taking the rig up to 20 feet or so. It appears the rig hovers even better out of ground effect with very positve control! Considering the short amount of time Eddie has been working on the rig, he really has climbed a huge mountain! I would not be surprised if he has the rig completly functioning by Florida Jets. To see the rig hover is simply amazing, a HUGE congrats to you EDDIE! Keep up the great work, you are truly an asset to the jet modeling world.

Default The "RIG" Hovers!

I just got off the phone with Eddie & the gang at Deland. He said they flew the Rig (VertiMOE) some mo. Phil took it up to 40 feet or so on multiple occasions and flew it around, gentle turns, at up to about ten mph. They have achieved endurances of 2 minutes or so in one shot. Yesterday, however, as he was touching down, the Olympus started ingesting some gravel and sand. Two starts later, the bearings started squealing. The AMT guys took a look at it and said "let us have it". So Eddie took the Olympus out of his Isobar and flew some more with it. He said that it has been foggy and VERY low clouds several days and people have had to keep it low to avoid the clouds. He said that attendance appeared to be the same as in previous years. He did not know about Todd getting asked to leave by the CD and the police for, supposedly, starting a disturbance until I mentioned it. Sounds like those Deland guys are WAY out of control and losing their minds.

Default be careful!!

hope he has a speed limiter in that plane, if he is supposed to be legal, sounds like those CDs are very into the legal system...

Eddie,

It was great to see you as well, thanks for the tour of the "RIG", I was quite impressed! I was really looking forward to seeing it fly but I guess the Clan had other ideas. Keep in touch and i'll see ya at FJ next month! I expect a full functioning "RIG" by then

Best Regards,
Todd
