Default Whatever happened too

I am getting over a shoulder operation (which don't arf urt today) and to help with convalescing a buddy lent me the First World Jet Masters. Winfried has not aged at all!! It was great to see how small a runway the contestants could get away with, no mean feat at all!!!!

There were two people who were really prevalant in the mid 90's Garland Hamilton and Hans Van Dongen.

Just wondered what happened to these guys who were at the forefront in those days?

Garland Hamilton was in the Marines and retired from the Marines and Jets, both, if memory serves.

I believe Mr. Von Dongen is living here in Canada now. I saw him fly his Starfighter about a year or two ago at the K/W Flying Dutchman Scale Rally in Kitchener ON.

Hans does in fact reside in Ontario, Canada now and still flys jets. He usually attend the Quinte Rally with a beautiful 104 Starfighter.

I spoke with Garland just a couple of weeks ago and he is alive and well in Kalispell Montana. He is totally out of RC now and enjoys his new hobby of big game hunting in Canada and South America.

Lots of guys come and go throughout the years but some of us just never quit!

Thanks guys,

nice to know they are safe and well and that Canada is a very attractive place for people to go and live!

I guess some people do move on, though would not be surprised to think Garland has some model or something somewhere!!
