I was wondering if anybody has a good source for Kerosene in Cali, more specifically the Bay Area. Jet A is $4.10 at my airport and I am looking to see how much Kero is around here.

Lowe's in Livermore has 5 gallon cans for $27...I got a couple. Most of the home centers in Norcal carry it only during the winter and then put it on sale in the spring. Check at your Lowe's or Home Depot...they might have it on sale.
With the Jet A being $20.50 for 5 gallons....I would just stick with that.

I called 2 Home Depots and a Lowes in my area and none of them sell kerosene. I found an Ace Hardware that sells is but at $8.00 a gallon!!!![:'(] Jet A would be cheaper for me to buy.

The Home Depot by us doesn't sell Kero but rather a product which is called clean heat. A perfect subsitute for kero. On the jug it says meets and exceeds k1 kero. Used it plenty of times when my local guy runs out of K1. runs about 30.00 for 5 gallons. thankfully we only have to use it in a pinch.

Look in the Yellow Pages for something like "Gasoline & Oil Marketers & Distrs". These are bulk oil & gas outlets that usually carry racing gas, greases, oils, kero and sometimes Jet-A. My local dealer, Goodspeed's, sells K-1 out of the drum into my jugs for $3.97/gal + tax. Price has been going up steadily for the last year.
Sometimes there are Yellow Page entries under Kerosene

Retry Home Depot. Don't call as they don't know. I talked to five people there and got five answers. Looked outside in the farthest corner and found a pallet of 5 gal. cans. The garden guy tried selling me lamp oil. When I showed him that I found some he said "Oh thats heating oil" I hate these stores.

Ian,
I've been getting it at Orchard Supply Hardware. Also there's a store in Fremont that sell it bulk. That is Dale Hardware. It's been a while since I bought some from them so I don't know the current price.

Moe142, I am going to start mine with propane for now but you can purchase a new glow plug for a little under $200 that will allow you to start with Kero. You will also need to update the software in your ECU though.
