Default Real Fun

While we can't fly our jets very fast, and we can't fly them at night
the rest of the RC world is having a blast. Here is some video
of the prop guys having fun with obviously far more dangerous airplanes.

I don’t think anything they did was wrong or dangerous, but if this is the
Norm for prop events, why can’t we fly >200 mph 300 feet away.. ?

Just does not make since to me.!!!!

I bet if the AMA saw that video the jet flyers would get more rules from it.

You don't see anything wrong or dangerous with this type of activity? Hrmmmmmm. Unfortunately, I tend to agree that this is becoming the 'norm' for it just makes me sick to see so many people bragging and carrying on like they are oh so important to the hobby that they have to act like total morons, faking stunts (dragging people underneath airplanes) and showing off for the camera. The 3D guys think that they are so much better than the rest of us and it is apparent in their actions caught on video. Why can't people just be themselves instead of trying to impress everyone and be the center of attention. It just shows how how arrogant, self-centered and egotistical they are. Example: 'Sup ya'll, Cirkus in da house.......' we've all heard that one and it's just plain ridiculous. I have known MANY people who NEVER acted the way the majority of the people in the widely posted videos on certain websites that I will choose not to mention now. This is supposed to be a family oriented hobby and many of the videos are edited and posted with songs and language totally innapropriate for younger audiences. I agree with cactusflyer in that since my involvement in R/C back in 1983, sometimes I too feel ashamed to be in this hobby. People like those in this video give the hobby a bad name. Granted they might have had fun doing this but they don't need to post that kind of crap. However, Eddie I don't agree with a speed event for jets.....sorry. That's all been discussed in another thread and I don't want to go there again.

You know….In the big picture, weather you and I approve or disapprove
of these peoples action is totally irrelevant.
They are all adults, many are sponsored pilots and they
want to shoot fire works at there planes that is there business.
I am not there daddy so its not my place to tell them what to do..

What is relevant is the fact that the governing body has set rules,
for all jets, that I have proven to be out of date and misplaced.

The proof I am talking about, are the probabilities witch I calculated,
using standard scientific methods witch show, without question
The most important factor in safety is distance.
Every time you double the distance, you increase the safety factor by a factor of 4.

This video simply shows, that the governing body is not educated,
in the terms of safety whey they allow 40+ lbs with 16 hp and 32 inch prop to
Hover 5 feet in front of the pilot all day long but will not consider
new rules for jets where speed and distance are increased.

based on your biased and narrow minded approach to others, at least from what I can read here, you are the type i would shun away from and not want to associate with .. its actually types like YOU that make many of us embarrassed to be in the hobby ... only place your kind of banter belongs at is in the back of the pits with all the rest of the OFs that whine but never even fly ..

I guess being level-headed and modest makes me 'narrow minded' compared to 'others'. I don't discourage having fun, but you don't have to ack like a jack ***** and show off for the camera while in the limelight. Perhaps it is my downfall, but I just cannot stand people who come across as egotistical and arrogant. sorry. This is a public forum and is for people to voice their opinions. I just voiced mine. And I also respect your opinions as well, however I may disagree with them.
BTW:
Next time I see you flying I will get some roman candles and make you feel at home.

If this was an AMA event (under the control of an AMA CD I mean) then I see some serious problems. If not, who cares?

Assuming it WAS an AMA event......I see a basic AMA safety code violation. I assume it is the operation of the plane within 25 feet of a person. Pretty big violation (poor seperation) according to your analysis, right Eddie?

Is there another one I am missing? I mean is shooting bottle rockets at a plane a safety code violation?

I also wonder if the site owner was counting on AMA insurance or did everyone claim they had homeowners :-)

Another interesting thing, no matter how "alternative" or "outlaw" any RC event thinks it is, there are NO WOMEN PRESENT, EVER. I have a couple of semi good (just "OK" really) surfers that work for me, they are COVERED in p**ntang every weekend! Funny!

These RC "alternative" events are a just a bunch of geeks showing up, trying too hard to be outrageous (I mean, a guy drinking a BEER!!!) filming it and putting a Limp Bizkit/Offspring soundtrack over it. I prefer we all admit that we are all just overage geeks and leave it at that!!

Funny!

PS looks like it was an AMA event..

if someone wants to, they have every right to show off ! sorry, but this hobby is not only about gently flying the pattern. if yopu don't like it, dont do it or don't watch it, somple as that .. what is really arrogant, is your biased aprach to others. As long as someone is not doing somehitng blatently wrong, dont be so quick to judge them, as you have just left yourself out for the judging ... now am i being arrogant here ?? why yes !! but thats because you asked for it. So please stop judging, discriminating, and cryticizing what is a matter of preference ( rather than right or wrong) unless you are willing to take some of it back at yourself ..
