Default sm hawk elevator

I am in the process of finishing the SM hawk with a p120. The elevators are setup as per manual with 2 8611 set side by side with a matchbox. I am not to happy with the way the stabs are installed. There is no ball bearing support. The stab shaft just passes through a brass bushing and both the stab halves are supported by the aluminium part that connects to the servos. Now this aluminium part is suspended...and doesnt have any vertical support. Is this good? I find there is binding in my elevator...and i find the movement kinda jerky if I move the elevators very slowly.... Is it me or is there a problem? Its a pretty plane to screw up with..and I want to get this right.
