Skymaster F-15 or F-18 first jet, any thoughts
I need some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on whether or not the Skymaster F-15 or the
F-18 would be good first jet. A little history on myself, I’ve been flying r/c planes for 20 years, 5 years ago went to all gas airplanes. For the last 4 years, I’ve built and flown 35% and 40% aerobatic planes plus an 85” Corsair. I’ve got 40 plus flights on the Corsair and knock on wood no mishaps. Again, constructive info only please!

My first plane was a SM F-15. I flew it for 108 flights. I sold it, and bought another one. Ive put 7 flights on it, but Im ready to move on now.

if you can get a little help on your first few flights there won't be any real problem with the hornet, and as a bonus its just sooooooooo much sexier than the f 15, a bit bigger too, have you thought about their big f16? built light those things land like a trainer, bigger is better!

Hi All
I belive F-15 is a better choice to start with. We have some new ones that are even lighter than the original ones, and the wings are live hinged so less work! Im not sure when we will get them in stock. But if you want to direct ship them from the factory they might be available now.
The F-18 is a heavier airplane and is more difficult to land due to rate of decent and the sability of narrow spaced trailing link main gear. Having to learn how to deal with the speed and sinkrates of turbine aircraft during the landing phase is already a chalenge, unless you are a very accomplished warbird flyer that is used to landing heavily loaded aircraft. I would shy away from the F-18 as a first airplane.
We will receive our first Big 1/6 scale F-16 this week for testing. The thing is huge. Anyway the prototype flew like a dream and was very easy to fly, it might also make a very good trainer jet.

Hey Terry
How you doing?
Its 1/6 for the big one and 1/8 for the smaller one. In the Windy city jets thread you can see a picture of it.
