Default Thoughts on BVM Heat Sheild

Hi.
Just wondering if you guys use BVM Heat Shield on all your jets. Is it needed for every installation or is it a feel good thing?
Thanks for your opinions.

I have used it before in 4 stroke applications but never on jets. From my understanding it is only to prevent heat buildup but does not resist the heat that a turbine will put out. What are you thinking of using it for?

Any indirect heat generated by turbine will be fine, it doesn't however like direct heat from the turbine outlet. Works great on surfaces too close.

Hi.

Great stuff, easy to apply, brushes clean with water, just leave say 24 hrs between coats.
I put 3 coats on my Baby Boomer and Boomer Xl. Won't protect you against a major fire but might give you a few seconds on a wet start. That's enough to save your jet whilst you fumble for your extinguisher.

Cheap insurance.

A good BVM product that no-one else seems to have ripped off yet ?

My guess is thats its a water based emulsion of ceramic powder or gypsum etc ?

the heat shield practically leaved my E-sport as untouched, when my P160 decided to spit flames from the back...

so it's wort every cents!!!

BVM Heat Shield will withstand temperatures of 1200 degrees F for a short period of time. Direct flames will not immediatly penetrate it, giving you some insurance (time) to hit the CO2 and put the fire out.
BVM recommends three light coats with air drying time in between coats. Use water for cleanup.
It is good insurance.

Sorry, Spartan, but I have to take exception to this statement.
Aeropoxy is a commercial product (Hysol 9462) that BVM buys, repackages and sells at 50% mark-up.
Heat Shield is a commercial product (probably Thurmalox 230 or 240) that BVM buys, repackages and sells at 50% mark-up.
How is BVM being "ripped off" if some other enterprising individual does the exact same thing BVM does?????

I don't think it is Thurmalox 230 or 240. Data sheet indicates some kind of solvent for cleanup AND heat curing. At 50% markup...he ain't making much money for sure. Buy for $1.00 and sell for $1.50 after repackaging?
BTW... I love the stuff. A can goes a long way. I'll save money on servos instead.....

Hi Jerry.

I was being sarcastic and you confirmed my suspiscion that it was a re-badged bulk product.
But it's still a good product and I'm happy to pay the BVM price and not have the hassle of trying to get some from the OEM in bulk quantities.

Don't leave home without it!! I've tested it - twice - inadvertently..it does work...even from direct flames
