Default Jets Over El Mirage

SUNDAY March 3rd. El Mirage Dry Lake, First Official Jets over el Mirage Dry Lake. While getting back to our roots of promoting Jets and having some fun too, the CRCJA is proud to bring you. Jets Over El Mirage Jet Together. No pilot Fees, Free refreshments to pilots. Jets only (no prop planes will be allowed in the dry lake that DAY)

The park rangers agreed to close down the Lake to ANY other RC related activities and patrol the whole dry lake for us. They will provide cones and block off AS MUCH RUNWAY space as we need, (so should we just say 1/4 a mile squared???) Signs will be posted to keep away any motorcycles and or motor vehicles. Local newspapers and TV channels have been informed so we should also have a decent promotion/write up for the event. This is a great warm up for the Tucson Jet Rally and to make sure your plane is in shape before you go to the event.

AMA WILL BE REQUIRED.

More details to follow as the event draws near.

Default DIRECTIONS

FROM LOS ANGELES, take the 10 or 60 East towards San Bernandino. unitil you come to the 15. Take the 15 north towards Vegas until you come to US 395,(right after you climb the Hill) take that North (it starts at the 15 so you can only go ONE direction) When you come to the city of Adelanto, look for Crippen Road and make a LEFT (west) until you come to a dead end ( a T crossing) Make a RIGHT (north) at that street (there are sign that point to the El Mirage Dry lake) you will follow that road (it will curve West in about 1 mile)follow along for at least 5 miles and the El MIrage Dry Lake entrance sign will be on your Rigth Hand side of the road. Take that dirt road UNTIL you see a sign on your right hand side that says "Access Road" Turn right into the lake and we are about 1/2 a mile in towards the left hand side (straight and a little to the left) Below are some other instructions I found on a web page incase they help.

Regards,

Turbulence

The riding area is between US 395 and the Los Angeles County line west of the town of Adelanto (CA). Most visitors access the area from Adelanto from US 395 by taking Crippen Avenue west and following the signs toward the town of El Mirage. East of the main El Mirage community, Mountain View Road goes north from El Mirage Road into the El Mirage OHV Recreation Area. There is a sign at this intersection directing visitors into the area.

From Palmdale (CA), take Palmdale Boulevard east to 240th Street and turn north (left). At Avenue P, turn east (right). At the San Bernardino County line, Avenue P becomes El Mirage Road. Follow El Mirage Road through the community of El Mirage to Mountain View Road and follow the signs north to the riding area. There is a perimeter fence in place to discourage trespass from the riding area into the community of El Mirage.

I might drive down early in the sunday morning and drive back in the same day. 420 miles each way is killing my *****
Joe and Sung, if decided to go. I'll bring the pipes for you guys.

Sure hope it's wrong, but the weather forecast now is for windy! That means over 20 mph.
