RE: Woodland/Davis Jet Fun Fly
No personal records this time Carlos. Just 7 flights today and 6 yesterday. I wont be there tomorrow.
Today's flying was outstanding! Weather was great and so many more pilots showed up as well as spectators (300?). I think it was a good idea to let just three fly at a time, especially for the unique traffic patterns in effect because of the nearby houses/road and the sun position.
Man, the Woodland/Davis runway was like a magnet, everybody was nailing there landings except for the F-104. He came in to fast and unfortunately couldn't get his engine to spool up fast enough to get back into the air. He ended up launching the jet off the road-side and into the next field. The damage didn't look to bad though.
Carlos, thank you for a bit of super glue and please thank the organizers of the fun fly. I had a real great time.

Thank you Ken and any time.
We had lots of fun today, I was busy all morning doing safety inspections on the participants aircrafts and also helping here and there, part of the afternoon was spend by Mark and my self trying to get our new friend Bob ( aka Capt. Bob ) from Anchorage, Alaska, one of only two turbine holders in that city and state.
I was able to get two flights in, good landings too , smoke on and all that, Bob will be completing his maiden flight by tomorrow morning so he can fly the rest of the day, ( Hang in there Bob, almost done ). Mark got the re-maiden flight on the Kangaroo, RAM 750 on top, his TO run was excellent, this old tech machine took him straight up into the sky, no problems at all, the entire flight was good ending up with and excellent APP. and sweet landing, and a nice cold one to celebrate his return to the jets .
Rafael showed up in force with 3 airplanes and thirsty for some Kero to burn and he did and then some for tomorrow, you go Rafa, if you were a medical doctor I probably choose you as my personal physician .
The flights continue all day 'till late in the afternoon, we had about 29 pilots that register for this event.
See you in the morning.
PS: Bring coffee, OK.

RE: Woodland/Davis Jet Fun Fly
Great event as usual guys!
Carlos, thanks for sticking to your guns and pushing me back into the air. You are a true friend!
Bob, it was great to finally meet you, and it was my pleasure to help you get your new ride in the air. Next time make sure "Bubba" is with you so we can tear it up "Alaskan Style."
Rafael, you've made tremendous strides in the turbine world in a very short time, nice job! Keep it up.
Monty, it was awesome to finally see the Panther fly (I've been waiting 3 years to see it ), and the folding wings are the coolest option I've ever seen.
Dan, you are the Scale Master with your F-100D. I had to stop everything I was doing each time you took her up.
It was also great to see some old friends, and great to meet some new ones. I hope to see you all again soon!
Fly Smart, Fly Safe!
Mark

RE: Woodland/Davis Jet Fun Fly
There is no way in hell I can even come close to showing my appreciation to the wonderful people who treated me so well at the Woodland Davis Aeromodelers Jet Funfly.
I came down from Alaska with nothing but a transmitter and receiver. The Rookie I purchased 2nd hand & turnkey from a gentleman in Roseville 2 weeks ago was already down there but I had not had the opportunity to do anything but look at it.
There were a couple of radio complications which had to be addressed before the plane could be allowed to fly and since I had no experience with JR radios, Jetcat turbines, and Rookie airframes I was having a little bit of difficulty.
Chris...Even though he was very busy doing an outstanding job CDing the event, he was always there with a helping hand...and even a smile once and a while! THANKS, CHRIS!
Carlos & Mark...With my being a little rummy because of lack of sleep and unfamiliararity with my new (old) plane, the wire leads were starting to take on the appearance of an explosion in a spaghetti factory. Along comes the the Cavalry, i.e., Carlos and Mark to the rescue!!! They kicked me out of the way and tore into my plane getting it ready for my test by dinner time so it was ready for a test flight early the next morning. THANKS, CARLOS & MARK!!!
Scotty...Scotty...Scotty...What can I say? Scottie also has a Rookie with with a Jetcat. I have experience with a Golden West, an AMT Mercury, and a Wren 54 but I've never even touched a Jetcat. Scotty went out of his way to get me going with the P-80 and also gave me quite a few tips to keep it running in top condition. The use of his Rookie to help me set up my control surfaces was also very much appreciated. I LOVE YOU, MAN! (and thanks to your dad, too)
Although I had to travel a fair distance to be able to attend, it was a very small effort on my part compared to what I got out of it.
Jim, Monty, John, Jake, Dan, Kerry, Rudy, and all the rest of the jet guys made the event one of the most enjoyable times I've had in 45 years of playing with model airplanes.
Send me a pm if you're going to visit Anchorage...free coffee is the least I can do for you!

RE: Woodland/Davis Jet Fun Fly
Well, it's over for this year. I would like to thank everyone from the pilots to all the workers that made this another great year at the WDA Jet Fun Fly. Monty and Chris for putting it on, the kitchen crew for breakfast and lunch, and Jack Mac for the BBQ each nite. I flew a little and ate alot ! From the SoCal group(Dave&Walt) to the Washington guys (Roy& Bob) and the one who traveled far from home, Alaska Bob, and to all who came, THANK YOU. It was a great time. And next year we will do it all over again. You are all invited, so make plans for Oct 2007.
John
