I've done an electric conversion on my 29, Byron fan and Scorpion motor. I got in a maiden flight this weekend, the last attempt I couldn't get the plane to rotate and ran off the runway. This time we moved the balance point back somewhat, but it still required full low rate elevator to rotate. Once in the air it felt rather sluggish and underpowered, but in its defense I was forced to fly stiff legged due to extension problems. Initially the plane felt nose heavy as I had to add some up trim, but while trying to land it felt a little more tail heavy. I couldn't get it to stall, it just mushed and the wings started rocking, but it never really departed controlled flight.
I did have to go around on the first landing approach, and there's certainly no shortage of immediate low end thrust. Typical EDF though....
I'm a little concerned about setting the CG with the gear retracted, as the plane has relatively heavy wheels and allthree of them come foward.

Congratulations on your maiden flight. I have one that I've been flying with a turbine. I balanced mine with the gear retracted and it was a bit nose heavy in flight so I moved the cg back as well.
It's a very draggy airframe and with the gear down, that will create the sluggishness that you're experiencing. There's a noticeable night and day difference on mine when flying with the gear down versus gear up.
Keep experimenting with different cg locations and I'm sure you'll find a happy medium.
