Default SHIPPING CRATED JETS

I just got a quote from UPS to ship an aircraft I have crated up. Dimensions are 20" x 20" x 60" long. Weight is around 22 lbs. To ship this to Singapore they want $ 593.00 with a 6 day transit time. This is out of the question, are there cheaper options? Thanks Doug

Ah, I missed the "to Singapore" part - sorry. Don't know about bax, but I'd definately check out DHL's rates for that vs. UPS or FedEx. I'd be interested in what you go with - keep us posted if you don't mind...

Patricia shipped my Baby Boomerang via Baxworld and worked out quite well. No crate just the original box and it arrived in perfect condition. Price was also very competitive, about half of what UPS or DHL were charging. Taxes got me later though[:@].

Hi Doug,

I dont think that's a bad price at all to Singapore, I've shipped a few jets to Japan and Taiwan and it was right around there if not a bit more. Be careful going with the cheapest, make sure you over insure the package.

Hi,

I like Forward-Air's prices, but when I dropped off a crated warbird I sold, I didn't like the roughness with which they handled the crate. It was like watching a couple of apes....

Bax Global is a good option.

A good friend of mine had ForwardAir completely destroy his 40% Extra 330S today while in shipping. I would NEVER use them for shipping anything anymore. They used to be great but have gone down the tubes in the past couple of years. That makes about 6 planes they have destroyed that I personally know about for some of my friends in the past 3 years.

Beware...

Hi all,

I sold a Ziroli F4-U 2 years ago on RCU. Forward-Air gave us a good price so we went with them. we marked the crate fragile and airplane parts, we also told them not to stack any thing on the crate. When the crate got to where it was going I got a call telling me that a 500 lb box was put on the crate and the F4-U was smashed all to hell!! The buyer got his money and all was good but it was hard to use Forward-Air for a bit after that.

Regards,
Dan Crawford

a friend on mine made a crate with a triangular shape on top. This negated the opportunity for the carrier to put anything on top of it

Hi Doug,

I wouldn't go that way via U**. Its way to dear. As mentioned in the post, Patricia Cardash send my XL from Texas to Singapore via BAX for only US$190 and the clearence plus tax came to about addition US$100. so total is about US$290 delivered to my door.

Not too sure if this is a L39 you are shipping to someone I know, if so I'll let him know the BAX way. Reasonable price with good service.

Brgds

Hi Doug,

I'll let Jonathon knows when he's back from flight tmr. Perhaps you can check with BAX over in US for a quote first and see what it is like.
