Default Turbine for Skymaster F-16 1/8

Hi,

My new jet, skymaster F-16 1/8 arrived, first look is great (I order all white version for custom paint)
Now I have problem, what turbine buy ?

JetCat P-70, install middle with tail pipe ? (I like this solution), not problem with weight and landing ?
or
JetCat P-60 install tail without tailpipe ?

In my model I need use airelons and install smoke system.

Help me,

Robert.

Hi Robert,

A Jet Central Super Bee in the tail is worthy of consideration.

I have one with a Bee in the tail, it requires some nose weight in addition to the batterys to get the cg correct. The model flys very nicely, climb performance is ok on takeoff, close to unlimited when model is up to speed.

Mine has an old Simjet 1200 12 lbs ingine in the tail. Soon I will have a Simjet 1200 18lbs engine. Then it will be perfect, with a thust/weight ratio of 1/1.

If you only consider JC engines, then I would recommend the P60 in the tail. You will have a lighter airframe.

Yes, I think about Simjet 1200 18lbs engine, one problem, price is too big for me
Ok, JetCat P-70 install on middle with tailpipe is not good solution for this F-16.

Hi Robert, the F-16 in the video above is mine, I got the Super Bee (14lbs) on the tail. Awesome performance and excelent thrust for this airframe. I definetly recomend 14lbs for this jet.

Does that mean, that more thrust is no good...... (Just teasing)

Robert.

What are the prices for the various engines you are looking at?

- JetCat P60 / P70 I have good price about 2100$
- SimJet 1200 2147Euro - 2800$ (price from simjet page)

Simple question,
That will be for me difference when I use P-70 install midle with tailpipe (of course more weight, more power) or I use P-60 mount tail ?
This F-16 is my second jet, now I learn fly on my rookie with P-80 engine ([link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpR4GBlz8Ko]movie from my fly[/link])

Please, apprehend, there are my starts with jets

Robert,

P-70 install middle with tailpipe will have a little more power, but P-60 will just fine for this Skymaster F-16(1/8). We have P-60 in our demo plane. I believe the SimJet 1200 will just fine too. You might just use your existing P-80 to save money too.

Default RE: Turbine for Skymaster F-16 1/8

thanks, now all is clear,

Summing up, Such solutions have :

JetCat P-70 install middle with tail pipe : little more power, good price, more fuel consumption, model weight about 0.7kg (1,5lb) more, full fuselage fit
SimJet 1200-18 install tail : more power, price too much, more fuel consumption, maybe perfect for this model
JetCentral Super bee : one big problem, delivery to poland and future service
JetCat P60 install tail : good power, little fuel consumption, good price, more free space in fuselage

I choose : JetCat P-60

You Need to factor into your weight calculations any noseweight that you will have to add to compensate for the engine in the tail. I think you will find that the all up weight difference is negligible with a p70 in the middle as opposed to a p60 in the tail. I have a P70 in mine and can post some pics of the install if you are interested.

A friend of mine has flown his with a kj66 homebuilt engine and it performed beautifully, so the wieght is not an issue, I can assure you.

Kind regards,

Craig.

It's true, with P-70 turbine I overload model about 100-200g. When it will use LiPol battery for turbine will not be any overload (theory)

Please post pics.

Im running a P-80 in mine.....Theres no problem slowing this combo up when its time to land !! My friend flies with a P-60 in the tail, and I land just as slow, if not even slower !!! I get 6-7 minutes and have about a third of a tank of fuel left....LOTS OF POWER !!!!!!!!

No I have'nt The plane does not need them... Im off the throttle half way into my final turn ! I have about 30 -35 flights on it now, and it took me a good 10-12 flights before I got the approach down...But once I got it, the rest was cake !!!
