Well, I've had a bit to drink and was trawling through some pics I took this Xmas and liked this one of my pilot in the making!

14 months old and he's learning well

C'mon we've all spent 1000s if not tens of thousands this year on jets etc!! Let's post some pics of those that still come before this hobby even though we're trying our best to get them into it too so the wife can't begrudge the little fella that JetCat 200 for his 2nd birthday

Happy New Year!

Rgds,
Mark

My son Jake was solo on fixed wing when he was 7 and solo on helicopters by 9. He will get a shot at turbines this year...

Here's a picture of Louie, age 10, flying his Blade CX2. He spent most of the day flying his UCD .46. The Bobcat I'm putting retracts in is for him and later this year, he'll go on the buddy box with an A10X...

It’s great to see all the photo’s of future fliers. It has been an extremely rewarding experience to teach my kids. I have introduced model aviation to all four of my sons (the two daughters were not interested). Two of the four sons got their aviation merit badge on the way to becoming Eagle Scouts. Over the years they were the ones that stayed with it. It is such great fun to fly slope with my son who stayed with it. Unfortunately he now has all girls and they are not interested in the hobby. So, now I am working on some of my other grand kids. One in particular begs me for my old model magazines which he looks at constantly. I have started putting him on the sticks of my foamy electric. Now I can start having more fun teaching another generation of flyers.

My daughter Amanda, 7 yrs old. Not quite ready to solo, she likes to bang the sticks- rolling- looping. I just let her do what she wants as long as she's having fun. Gotta be quick on the switch sometimes.

I agree Moler Mender, nothing more satisfying than watching the kids have fun.

I have the opposite side of the story, because my father started me into aviation very young, and now I'm 23. I can't remember my first time in the garage or working on projects! My Dad started taking me to the flying field when I was 5 and I started flying for real when I was 7. I couldn't think of a better way to connect with your dad than through model aviation. You never have to worry about not having a flying buddy or someone to hold your plane when you start up.
My Dad always said that I learned quicker than he did and that I flew better than he did. It was really cool that he let me fly anything in our fleet and there was no "his plane" and "my plane", rather our planes.
I'll try to find some old pictures of me flying. It's great fun and well worth the time on the father's part!!

Keep up the good work guys!
