Default Jets at SCCMAS

As jets have seemed to become a weekly thing at the SCCMAS (www.sccmas.org) in Morgan Hill, CA, I thought I'd throw a few pics from today. Present while Iwas there was Jaime Cortez with his Rafale and F-18, Tam Nguyen with a Kangaroo, Ehab Alandjali (can't remember if it was a BVM viper or not), Gordon McConnell with his BVM BobCat, Jim Mongiello with his Ram powered F-86, and I know I might be forgetting someone else. Anyways here's some photos. I might link to a video of the Rafale taking off tomorrow.

The SCCMAS will be having a two day Jet Meet on May 18 & 19. More details to come in a few weeks.

Regards,
Michael Luvara

Last photo for the day. Behind the well & trees is our RV area, which can host about 10 RV/campers for events. Water and electricity are at each station.

Hi Mike,

Having fun with the new digital camera, huh ?

The other guys were Chris Huhn with his bandit, and Jimmy Mongiello with his BVM F86.

Ehab's plane is a Bandit, just like Chris's. Also, a minor point - Jetcat is an engine manufacturer; the plane is a BOBcat, as in BOB Violett. ;-)

Hopefully next week we can add Reggie to the list too.

Later,
Gordon

Fixed it before your reply - HAH! I kept replying to my own thread and didn't see your reply. I'm having fun with the camera too. The Rafale takeoff was a cool perspective. Just need to compress it and upload it somewhere.

Woketman,

The club is self funded and paid has been paid for by its own members through annual membership dues. The club has been in place since 1986 at the present location and developed itself over last 16 or so years. Membership peaked at 410 members last year., so we are a large club.

Woketman,
Our dues were initally something like $60 a year and of course changed over time as expenses went up. Currently the structure is as follows:

from http://www.sccmas.org/membrshp.html

Open Member............................................ ....$100
Seniors (over 60)...........................................$90
Family Membership (up to 2 members)........................$125
Junior Membership (15-19 yrs old)...........................$50
Under 15 yrs old with parent................................$25
Newsletter Subscription Only (no flying-AMA not required)...$15
New members add one-time $10 assessment.

I believe that this structure is very reasonable for what we have as a club. We are non-profit and every penny goes back into the facility.

John,
$100 isn't too much in the Bay Area.
We are lucky to had this club.
Properties around here is sky rocket.
Average home in the Bay Area is 400k plus.

John,
That's a little more than $8 bucks a month to fly at this field, not too bad. Our local State Park field is now $5/day to enter the park. Of course, you can buy a yearly membership for $53...

Those amounts are NOT reasonable... they are way cheaper than reasonable. I pay $75 a year to fly at a marginal grass field, you guys have heaven for $25 more. That field really looks like paradise, you guys. You lucky dogs!

Default Forgot one guy...

Ooops - in adding to the list of jets present, I forgot one. Gerry was there too - with (I think) an ultra viper.

Sorry Gerry - didn't mean to be snobbish and ignore your lovely jet just because it still makes those damn annoying two-stroke noises !! ;-)

Mr Matt-

We will have more information on the Morgan Hill (SCCMAS) event in a few weeks as the event flyer is currently under construction.

Tam is the official coordinator and such for the event and I will be the CD overlooking the event (all those darn rules) because Tam isn't yet a Contest Director. Please note that this will NOT be an AMA sanctioned event.

Michael

Okay Gordon, had to get my correction in there... <grin>
