RE: Yellow F-15 ARF Assembly Thread
Hi Rick,
I have fitted a P120 in mine. You will need to push the pipe all the way back so the back of the pipe is level with the rear of the exhaust cones. I pushed the engine forwards so that the rear of the exhaust nozzle is level with the rear of the main former and I also trimmed the bypass at that point. This meant modifying the locations of things from that mentioned in the instructions but I think that this was the best compromise. Pushing the engine any further forwards would have restricted bypass airflow too much at the front end. Back to the garage now to mount the ecu!
regards,
Craig.

Gary,
I thank you too! I've been looking in my boxes (still unpacked) for my diagrams but couldn't find them. X-Spec, I'm glad you got 'em!

Hi GUys,
I am fitting the fuel tanks in mine and I have found it impossible to get the tanks in without cutting out the plywood between the two large lightening holes in the former immediately infront of the fuel tanks. Am I missing something or is it infact necessary to trim the bulkhead in that area?
Thanks in advance,
Craig.

Craig, I had to make the holes (egg shaped),then clock the fuel and vent lines to the best possible location. the tanks fit snug and the lines from the stopped are close to the former but do not contact it. The fuel tanks I have are the (Jet -Tech fuel cells). Hope this helps some! Rick.

Hi Shaun,
Yes I am. I think they will do the job well once installed and are of an ideal capacity for that size engine.
Kind regards,
Craig

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the info. I am using the stock tanks but I think I will need to open up the former by joining the two large lightening holes. What would you suggest Shaun? I can't for the life of me get them in any other way.
Thanks for the help guys.
Craig.

Got the tanks in. Had to cut the plywood out between the two large lightnening holes. Made some plywood brackets to hold the stock tanks in place and all is well now. I don't think the removal of the plywood will weaken things significanlty. Now onto the wings (working from back to front!)

Mine's also 30 lbs with a p120, no cockpit kit..., nothing extra inside, placed the cg at 71/2 inches back, i do think the inch travel on the aileons and rudder is a bit much...any ideas, i hope to maiden it this sunday.
Also it says measue cg with gear up (retracted)????

Hi guys,
This thread has been quiet for a long time but I have had some requests for pics of my fitout....I guess people are curious to see where others are placing the gear in this jet and what gear they are using so here goes........
Will start with some pics of the rear tray....
I put three air valves for the main gear together with the two for the canopy mechanism on the rear tray. Next to them is the jet-tronics brake valve. The two yellow sequencers control the gear and doors, and the canopy open/close air ram and the two air rams for the canopy locking mechanism. You can see the canopy air ram mounted on the front of the rear tray.

Some more showing the front tray on which I mounted my power box and JR spektrum receivers. Photos show prior to servo cable installation for clarity. I shifted the nose wheel steering servo to make the servo and powerbox easier to get to. Receivers are in the nose while another is mounted to the sidewall of the fuselage next to the nose gear door.
I made a hatch in the nose so I could see the powerbox and receivers after I had installed the scale cockpit. I can get a driver in through here to check my battery voltages on the powerbox and the receiver lights also.
I have yet to finish the bump stops on the hatch periphery-it needs to be trimmed and I have to paint the hinge line also. The hatch is held shut with one small rare earth magnet which is very effective. Tested its holding power by blowing high speed air from the compressor over the area and it did not flinch!
In the last photo you can see where I mounted the valve and servo for the speed brake.....I used the supplied retract valve for this so I could use the needle valves to control rate of movement of the airbrake.

In the previous post you can see the mounted air ram in the top of the first photo that I used for locking the canopy in place.....have on on each side of the fuse. I turned up a little aluminium adaptor that thread right onto the air ram on one end. It drives a 4-40 rod that runs forwards, does a 180 and then heads back through the canopy frame to lock the canopy in place. The 4-40 rod is pushed into the aluminium adaptor and held in place by the grub screw in the adaptor. Very simple but effective.

More showing front receiver mounting method ruined aesthetically by application of kicker! (me getting impatient )
The red sullivan outer rod just protects the receiver wire from getting bent during insertion of the tray.

more .......please note that alot of these photos were done during construction so many don't show all the wires and crap in place!
have some photos of the brackets I made to retain the stock tanks in place and hold the air fill valve and gauge gear....

I fitted electrodynamics lights to this baby.....even got them up in the fin without screwing up the paint work! That took some careful work. Have yet to touch up the paint on the light housings to get them grey.
