Default Panther-Ziroli 1.25X Scaleup Turbine

Having almost finished, a 25% oversize Ziroli Panther. Does anyone have some accurate info re C of G.
This model weighs 11.4 Kg dry (inc 3 Batt packs) Powered by a Jetcat P-160 Kero Start. Might need a bit of lead still to get C of G correct
Span & Lenght is 92". It's been a long gestation, but fitted out with Intairco retracts, Emcotec 2001RV, Robart wheels, Nose wheel braked. All coming to fruition. Bucketloads of room inside. F/G fuel tank is very close to C of G indicated on the plan
I can go off the plan, but, has it ben refined at all over the years?

Any pics?

To my knowledge, the CG has not been amended from the original plan, but that doesn't mean it's the best overall CG....just a safe starting point.

Seeplaner,

I built a Ziroli Panther that was ducted fan for two years then converted it to a turbine. After adding the turbine engine, tail pipe and related parts I had to add 22oz of lead shot to the nose for a correct C.G. I know you hate to add weight to a model but the correct C.G. is a must. Be sure the balance is correct, a nose heavy plane will fly but a tail heavy Panther is doomed!!!!!!!!!

Regards,

Seeplaner,

Best to stick with the Designers plans C/G as your starting point. As I'm sure your aware, you need only to multiply the original plans C/G measurement by 1.25 and you will get the corresponding C/G you need for your scale up and it will be at the least a very safe location and you can refine it as you put more flights on the airframe.

Just some food for thought and best of luck on the maiden.

Brg.

Thanks guys.
No Pics yet, it's really my test bed Turbine, rather than a full Scale dream ship.
If it flys well, then detail will be added, maybe a pic further down the track

Great news,
the Panther has flown.
C of G as per the plan. Ended up at just over 12 kG with NO added lead. Test flight, while a bit of a leg shaker went well. Smooth lift off, about 3 clicks of aileron & we were straight & level. Very docile. Ended it with a crap landing. However, better to put some new nose leg bearers in, than punch a big hole in the nose.
Jetcat 160 limited to 105,000 rpm to date.
2 more flights. I would recommend this as agreat 1st Turbine for any reasonable pilot.
My only learning curve problem is getting used to cutting the throttle on landing approach some 3 secs earlier than if it was a prop plane
It will be changed over to a Jetcat 120, and the 160 will go into a MB-339 from Fei Bao
