Default A/d Rafale

Hi all,

I have an avaition design rafale, 1/9 scale, and my question is; does this require a bypass ? I will be putting a jetcat p-80 for power....the plans show for a jpx260, and it does not mention anything about a bypass..
I have e-mailed a/d and I 've got a response that you do not need one. I would like some feedback from pilots who had or has this kit...
Also, any info on mounting the p-80 will be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks,
TOMMY

Hi Tommy,

You don't need a bypass for this aircraft.
I own two of them , one is powered by a JPX and the other, still unfinished yet ,will be powered by an AMT Mercury.
I have a straight pipe for the JPX and I bought a split pipe from Tam for the mercury.
I'll post some pics later on today.

Best regards
Florent

JPX powered A/d Rafale, there is no bypass, there is even no intake ducting (just 4 inches ) in order to save weight

Hi Tommy,

It looks like you cut down the inlet ducting too?
Do you have a straight pipe?

Hey tommy

hows it going man? Glad to hear your happy with the Rafale,I love the YA F18 Twin.I already have done some work on her, stabs are primed as well as the fuse.My friends at the field when they saw this monster were like man you are 1 lucky #!@!$@$ LOL.I hope to have one of the jets talked about this year at the jet rally here(hopefully shes looks flawless when I am done.Painting it up in blue angels lead solo 5(PPG),just bought the full body pilot from Bluebox toys ,now I am gonna buy the full cockpit from killer cockpit. The canopy will work as well as the speed brake & tailhook(will mix those 2 together)Ordering drop tank & sidewinders from YA too.

anyways Tommy hope the Rafale builds easy for ya & you enjoy it.Its a sweet kit w/o a doubt ,I do kinda miss it still- LOL,but i do however love the YA F18 even better .I'll send ya some pics when shes done,i should have it RTF by late march.I just need to get my YA F4 & TG Interceptor done first

Default f-18

Steve, how are you doing ?

I went through the kit, and it looks pretty simple to build...
I posted this thread to see if anybody had any building tips before I got started on it .........
Im glad you are happy with the f-18...It was to big for me to do something with it at this time... I hope you enjoy it as much as I would have....Maybe, I will get one sometime again in the future !!
And lastly, PLEASE, when you are finished with the f-18, send me some pictures..Thanks again Steve..........

Hi Tommy,

I've seen one A/d rafale powered by a jetcat P120 without particular reinforcement, just built as per the plan....

I think however that you should reinforce the landing gear area, by laying one coat of carbonfibre; you should also make the main landing gear mounts ( C4,5 ,8) stiffer,I used 6mm ply instead of the 3mm.

Don't be afraid by the wing attach system , it's very good, some guys just tape the wings !!!!!!!

let me know if you have any other question )
