Default SFC

Hi Vin,

Kerosene weighs .85 ounces per fluid ounce.

BTW, if you are checking SFC, make sure that the manufacturer figures are given in FLUID OUNCES, cause some of the competition use weight, JetCAT uses fluid ounces (that most modelers think of when asking about fuel quantity).

Using weight, you pick up an instant 17% better SFC!!

Default kero weight

Hi Matt, thanks, I am trying to figure fuel weights for the 262. I can fit two 40oz tanks with headers. Thats a little over 2lbs each. I HOPE the new jetcat is good on gas mileage!!!

Specific Gravity of Kero/Jet A1, paraffin etc.

Hi Guys - Just to add a little confusion, don't forget the difference betwen U.S gallons and European gallons !

Specific Gravity of kero (etc) approx 0.79. Therefore 1 litre weighs 790 grams.

1 US gallon = 3.8 litres = 3 kg of kero
1 Euro-gallon = 4.5 litres = 3.55 kg of kero

Of course the 4 - 5% oil added to kero for our turbines makes a little difference, as oil has lower S.G, but in small quantities we use it is negligable.

Done this in a hurry from memory - so hope I've got my conversion factors and figures right ...

Hi Vin,

Well there are actually 2 motors coming out. The first is a P-70 (shown here). We made this one as we felt the current "crop" of small motors were not powerful enough. The P-70 fuel consumption is about 9 ounces a minute at 120K RPM, at over 16 pounds of thrust.

It is only about 1/4 inch larger diameter than a RAM 500. It weighs about 7 ounces more than a RAM 500. This motor is intended for the stuff like BVM 90 size jets and the like

THe P-60 is much smaller, 83 mm diameter. That is more suited to your twin project
