Default Lightning CG question

Book says 45-50 in front of spar, wings off, is that with nose gear down or nose gear up?

Sean, if you have access to a baby or package scale, the spreadsheet and data for balancing a Lightning with wings on is at the JPO web site. www.jetpilots.org. Go to the members tab and then weight and balance. A very precise alternative to consider. The factory method works too.

Keith, I'm going to attempt your spreadsheet, as I understand it, I only need to input 13C, 14C, and 15C as all other measurements should be the same?

On B9, is that where the weight is expected to be installed? And is that from the nose of the airplane, or from the front nose wheel towards the front of the airplane? Can you PM me your number?

Yes, all you need to do is put in the weights of the three wheels. The measurements should be very close, but you might check them just to be sure.

The location of the balance weight is from the tip of the nose. All measures are from the tip of the nose.
