Default pneumatic retract question

Hello guys,

For a normal set of air up - air down retracts, is it normal that if i open the gear (no air connected, holding in my hand) and push the pin all the way to the lock, i can (by applying pressure on the strut) cause it to retract ? with air pressure it stays put, but think this would mean the mechanical lock isnt good ?
