Anyone ever tried a jet powered seaplane?
I wonder if somebody tackled a jet powered seaplane yet, I remember having seen a thread on a Martin Sea Master some years ago, but dunno if he got it ever to flying status.
There are a few 1/1 examples that would be great exotic projects....like a Sea Dart??????

I don't know much about the turbine North Star but could easily find out as it is owned by one of my clubmates.
All I know is it is a 150% enlargement of the North Star and I believe it is powered by a TJT 3000 turbine. I understand there were problems with water ingestion to start with hence the 'shield' that has been built to protect the engine.
If you need any more info then let me know and I'll see what I can find out.

When I am able to quit that work stuff this is first on my to build list, The Saunders-Roe SR.A/1.
This quote gives me the chills, how cool is it,
This quote gives me the chills, how cool is it,
After the memories of the Princess were completed, a little extra was added concerning one of the early flights of the a little sister to the Princess. This was of the SR.A1 Squirt flying-boat jet fighter. This involved a time when the aircraft had taken to the skies and flown out of sight. Mr. Beken had patiently awaited its return but had eventually given up and packed away his camera. Just too soon! A speck on the horizon gradually got bigger and bigger. It was the Squirt, screaming back at low level to its base at Cowes but, there was something odd about its appearance. The aeroplane swept over the masts of the sailing boats moored off the Royal Yacht Squadron..... It was in prolonged inverted flight.
The aircraft flew on, rolled out and returned to settle on the water where the Solent meets the River Medina.
"What a fantastic sight!"

Dragoon,
Sure, like this one a few are on my wish list, talking about the Sea Mater would a great project...
But I guess I start off with non-scale to get the problems under the belt with water and jets, both individually I can handle nowadays, but the combo is new to me. Would beat the hell on the next water fly in....
The SR would surely have its share of probs with the nose inlet.. as the real one also did I heard.

Wayne, Siclick, I am eager to get in contact with the builder(s) of these waterborne Northstars, anyone there to help? I have specially bought a P80 to hook it to that floatplane...We are on our way to draw one ourselves, but we could benefit from expieriences.

The rudder was not covered but may have to after the first start. Weight was not an issue, the stainless steel did not affect the C of G.

Anybody know if there were any V-tailed versions of the Colonial Skimmer/Lake Amphibian or the Republic Seabee? Might be do-able as a turbine model.

Seplane fans,
I have seen the Turbine Northstar Fly. It is awesome. It is an excellent flyer and performs well. A scale project would be tough. Even real one like the SeaDart had major hurdles. MAinly water in the engine. That is why planes like the Northstar are so attractive. Proven design and engine is in a safe loacation.

It has been a while for the Sun Sea and Sand to com into harmony, but last Saturday Omar was able to test fly his Lanier 120. P60 provided enough power and all went very well. Here is the video. Music and pauses to blenk out my delight that it flew and was flown well.
