AVONDS F15 OR F16 for second plane
Hi Guys, just need a bit of advice. Just about to dip my toes into flying gas turbine, I have a Boomerang Xl P120 powered ready to go, hopefully fly her for the first time this weekend ( weather permitting ). But I am ready to order my second airframe for later, what I want to know, out of the Avonds F15 or F16 which would make the best second plane. I already have a P80 to fit into it, but I just want to know which of the two would make the most stable platform, and able to make nice slow landings with.

Go the F15. It is a very forgiving airframe capable of very tight turns and beautiful nose high slow controlled landings. I also have the F16 but have not flown it yet. A P80 might not be enough for the F15 though. I have a simjet 3000 in mine and that is a good combination.

Hello Simon.
I have built and flown both planes. You can't go wrong either way. If you build it light, you will have a fantastic flying model aircraft no matter what plane you choose. P80 is OK for the F-16, but I would go for more power on the F-15 as well. I flew mine on a SimJet 2300.

A tailerons only F-15 will also fly on a P-80 if kept light. A friend had one with an early JPX in it for years and it flew around OK whilst not exciting. But a P-80 is quite a bit more powerful than a jpx and quite a lot lighter. Whilst the F16 is a fine model and flies really well I would say that the F15 is easier to fly and see.
