Mine is also about 30# dry, it was one of the original ones, all white so it's painted of course. A couple weekends ago in Princeton Al Blore test flew his new kingcat and it seemed to be probably 2 or 3 pounds lighter, his is one of the latest versions so they maybe are a little lighter now than the first ones were, not sure, it is also painted in the mold. Both were powered by PST 1300R's, compared to my old AMT Pegasus it's about a pound lighter (the PST is lighter I mean).

RE: Kingcat total weight??
The only problem I see with the Jet 1A struts in the KingCat is if you have a HOA on landing you may hit the bottom of the rudders on the runway. I've done this using the BVM gear. On my Boomerang the bottom of the rudders are cut at an angle and have tail skids on each boom. Maybe one could cut a angle on the KC rudders and cap them off with a piece of poly ply or something else.
Just a thought.

maybe one can use 2 taildragger carbon parts, very cheap and they can act as skids.
we can only see this true using them.
my point is to protect the model against holes in the fields so we can save on the carbon parts under the carriage..

Dave your the mx-22 specialist
my Kincat does a serious nose down when deploying flaps.
how on earth did you mixed them? Elevator and flaps
i must be stupid[&:]
i was looking at the free mixers , but somehow there must be a better -faster way.
i must say it did fly on rails , and your suggested CG was spot on.
also can i use more flaps ? or stick with the original settings , i wanted to slow it down some more.

Hi Sandor, I am no expert, but do you have crow brakes in on landing?, I have forgotton a couple of times on a landing approach, and it comes in much faster without them.
BTW I am just in the process of installing an AMT Pegasus on it, so would be very interseted as to how you find it. I used to have a Jetcat 120 on it.

dont like crow settings it gives you less to play with on ailerons , and it dont look very cool..
to be honnest i found the kingcat being very slow , as in Boomerang XL mode with a 14 kilo tubine
i gave the turbine to amt nl to have a look , and i believe i got a upgrade...
so today the weather is no good , but i will try tommorow

RE: Kingcat total weight??
Sandor,
to be honest, I have never felt that I needed the extra aileron movements on landing with crow brakes in. I guess I will stick to being uncool for the time being[sm=shades_smile.gif]
And I am very suprised you say it's very slow with the Pegasus, having seen AMT Bennie fly his. Perhaps the upgrade will change your mind

My Kingcat with a P-120 is not slow. I'm easy at the AMA limit of 199.99 mph. Unlike my bandit with a P-70, mine is up and going right from the start. I was going to put a titan in it, but I flew her again last week, after much time of not flying her, and she's plenty fast. I know, to each their own.

RE: Kingcat total weight??
The P-120 is a superb engine for the Kingcat. It's just that I wanted to paint the model, more detail and put a bigger smoke tank in it, which of course is adding alot more weight to it. So I thought a few more pounds in thrust would'nt hurt.

I'm sorry if my post sounded like putting anything other than a P-120 was a bad idea! I actually debated buying that P200 thats been for sale here on RCU in my kingcat just to do vertical take offs! That's until I flew her again last week. I've been getting fat and lazy flying my scale stuff around. My Kingcat was plenty fast.

RE: Kingcat total weight??
[sm=shades_smile.gif]Raf,
Did'nt take the wrong way
Verticals, that was one of my other reasons for a bigger engine Although the P120 was plenty fast enough for me flat out, I could of done with a bit more power when going slow into a vertical. Hopefully the pegasus will give me that bit extra.
Once you get used to your Kingcat again, you might feel like splashing out on the P200 or even a P 180, both IMO would be fantastic engines for vertical take offs [sm=shades_smile.gif]

Raf, the black as you can see is done. Just the white to spray now. Looking forward to trying it out.
Thanks too Mike Gay for spraying and laurie for the masks.
Sorry Mike, your surname has been edited for some reason

Sorry-been away from RCU for a while, busy getting ready to move the company across town...and that JWM thing!
Are you using the flap set up on the MX-22? If so there is a Flap/elevator mix in there.
Yes you can use more flap than BVM lists, though it'sworth putting pressure on the flap and cehck that the linkage/servo isn't losing you some of what you have.
I didn't use the Crow on the KC, though my BobCat has it and I do like it.
You need lots of up with flap or you will be bending the stick!
With a P160 all ours are plenty fast!
