jr user's beware
well here is my story - after singing the praises of the ar-9000 modules and receivers. we have run into a problem. the ar9000 since it only works in ppm mode you will only get the amount of channels that your radio supports in ppm and that is not always the same as a 10 channel pcm for example . on older 10 channels and 8 channel model radio's you will only get to use 8 and 6 channels respectfully. myself and joe rafalowski alerted chris huhn of spectrum about this and he has confirmed our findings.
now here is the twist- i bought 4 receivers and 2 modules for my radio's expecting to get 9 channels as i needed but will only get 8. so now i need 3 more matchboxs to set up my models correctly which is another expense over and abnove the original cost for the new rec and module and since the spectrum manual and sales catalog said they work and now don't ,and since i alerted them of this AND found they didnt test it but only guessed it would work, it would sure be nice if they would help out the buyers of this new product that does not work as advertised and give us free or reduced cost matchboxes if we need them.-[ 1 matchbox per receiver bought]
ok my rant is over - by the way the spectrum system still works great. it is just costing more than advertised!
and joe raf was a great help as my jr rep . in working with me on this! thanks joe!

RE: jr user's beware
another way to know if it will be a working spectrum channel is - if it is not a mixable channel then it is usually not going to be supported by ppm thus no spectrum!

I bought an AR9000, which I set up to work with my 10X. Channel eight, when operated makes all other channels jitter, or freeze. I don't know if this is typical, or a misfunction of the system!!!

So what exactly did Horizon do wrong? They said it will work with Moduled radios in PPM mode and it does.
In the original info I remember them saying that it is limited to the number of channels that ppm supports. This is why the Futaba 14m module will only be 8 channels.

Although I have not tried it with a 14MZ, the 12Z Futaba transmits 12 channels on PPM. So will the Spektrum module allow a 12Z to go to 9 channels?
You can also add the $60 MPDX-1 and get 16 proportional channels :-)

I have an xtreme module in my 10X, and the neat thing with that receiver is you can mix in the receiver. So, even though you only get 9 channels out of the transmitter, you can have 10 at the receiver. Can you do that with a Spektrum? bob

OK, so get even: Go buy [link=http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/EqualizerII/equalizer.htm]Equalizer IIs[/link]! [>:] Most of our applications dictating this kind of device only need to deal with 2 servos anyway - so use the savings to buy more Jet-A.

RE: jr user's beware
ok guys now that everyone has put in their 2cents the moral to the story is to beware that some of the older jr radios DO NOT support all channels in ppm mode! i was upset because neither spectrum or me were on the ball enough to ck this out up front .
so now i have a bunch of new spectrum systems and am short some channels and need to spend for more matchboxes and for a few $ more i could have just bought new transmitters, when it is all said and done.
nobodies fault in particular but i feel hosed!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a new radio? Just a thought.
I agree it is a little bit off but life isn't always fair and neither is new technology.
It should have been made clearer in my opinion but we all know what thats worth.

I know how upset you are so just send a module and RX to me and I use them on my 10X and I won't even get upset having just 9 channels
