How the heck am I supposed to get a waiver for a Sophia with CAI electronics?
That thing belongs in an antique museum..
Joe said he would build me a Facet. I've got a note into Ed, but haven't heard back. His web site says they are in the middle of a move.
What do you think I should power it with?

Hell with the waiver thing...we'll fly it. You can sit back, relax, and let Scott and I "test" the bird. I bet the wood in that plane has deteriorated by now...considering how long it's been sitting around waiting for an axle.

I would love to come, Steven is still gone on a flight test and I'm not sure when or if he'll ever come home. I'll see what happens in the next couple of days.
I would love to come fly my Phantom at Waco with you guys.....we have a score to settle there!

May I suggest that if and when you return to Waco to fly model jets, PLEASE for the love of god leave the Phantoms at home!! The ground in central Texas simply cannot sustain the heavy seismic activity that always seems to accompany the "arrival" of one of your F-4's.
Will there be anyone there to go over the waiver requirements?
I will be there, but I thought you already had your waiver.

Including the guy who is flying down from OKC for a sign-off, that makes 3 for the day! I hope Dawn and/or Dan are coming, otherwise I won't have much time to fly my stuff. *I know, I'm such a selfish schmuck*

Pat, I'm with you on the stupid questions, they sent that darn thing back to me twice before I had the right answers. Just send it in and they'll write you to re-answer questions 2, 4 and 7 (example) and then you answer those then they say ok, re-answer 2 and 4 and then you do, and then eventually they say "ok, we pestered him enough!" Just go for it, send it in. Tell Reid Howell to send his in as well if you see him.

What is required to get a waiver? There is no direct link from the AMA's home page. And a search on "turbine waiver" got me 300+ results.
Thanks a bunch

There is a short written test. (AMA document 515)
You must be "signed off" by two AMA CD's (one of which must be a "approved turbine CD") (AMA document 516)
You must be signed off by a turbine manufacturer as having been trained on the operation of the engine. (AMA document 517)
You must sign a statement saying that you have flown more than 50 flights with an aircraft capable of flying at 150mph or more). (included in document 515)
All of these documents are then submitted to the AMA and if approved by the turbine committe your waiver will be sent to you.
All of the AMA documents are available here: http://modelaircraft.org/templates/a...1349CAD343278E
The complete requirements are listed in document 513
