Hello guys,

A friend of mine just bought the new Cermark F-18 Prop plane, and i must say it looks great !!

We are very interested in making the nose gear a twin wheel unit, since using a single wheel nose gear on a F-18 is a crime !

Anyway, this plane is equipped with pneumatic retracts, and i was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to make such a nose gear, or are there already made units ? the retract is built for a 5mm music wire landing gear. we are not looking into something too fancy, just a double gear.

We already thought about getting some 5mm music wire and weld a piece in a T shape for the 2 wheels to sit on, but this can not have the "spring" like in the original nose wire to absorb hits on those not so perfect landings ?

any ideas ?

This is what you need.... I use it on 5/32 piano wire struts, the axle will be introduced mid way and one wheel on each side with retainer collar..., if axle is too big you can use a wire of less gauge...

Ruizmilton, thats definitely a possibilty, but i wonder if you are missing the spring that comes with the original nose gears (that absorbs the hits on landings) ?
