Default PCM or PPM?

Thi8s has been discussed many times before - here and in the Radio forum. Do a search for "PCM" and you will find plenty.

Here's some threads to start with:

Default PCM or PPM?

Don't cheat yourself out of the third and, in my opinion, superior alternative: IPD. IPD is a hybrid, kind of, of PPM & PCM. It is an analog transmission scheme (like PPM), but there is a processor in the receiver that is checking the signal for validity. With IPD, when things are getting dicey, you can visually see some glitching and hopefully realize that it is time to land (not mask the glitching like PCM). But when all is lost and the interference or whatever has gotten out of hand, the IPD receiver will drive servos to preset fail safe positions like PCM. The best of both worlds. I have been flying Multiplex IPD receivers, first the 9 channel then the 12, for over two years. But then again, due to the unheard of MPX Profi 4000 range, I have never had a glitch while airborne (besides a situation that I stupidly caused myself). The MPX IPD receivers will work with any radio transmitting a PPM signal (for Futaba shift they need to a simple mod, but I think they sell them Futaba ready now). Why fly with anything less?
