Another Kingcat Takes To The Skies
Hi Guys.
I am happy to share that last weekend was the maiden flight of my Kingcat. David "The Shulminator" was here giving a flying clinic to Axel, and afterwards put on a great show for us, showing the capabilities of the plane. After I got my stick time I noticed quickly that this new version handles better than the old one. Having had the first version as well, I could tell that this one is a more stable flier, especially on the landing approach. I was also very skeptical of the crow mixing, but after performing landing after landing I was a believer. Great plane to fly!!
Regards
Alex
**Correction, David did not do the maiden. It was done by our friend and test pilot Andy. Also, I want to thank Axel for going to the bathroom so David could fly the plane.

RE: Another Kingcat Takes To The Skies
Alex, Can you elaborate on why you feel the new one flys better then the old one? How is it better? Any one else with experience on both care to add anything to this.
Thanks,
Kim Foster

It feels more stable on the landing approach. No wobbleing. It also slows down more, while maintaining stable characteristics.

Did you use crow on your first kingcat? Reason I ask is you mentioned you were skeptical of it on this one in your first post and you say it feels more stable on landing. My Kingcat is first generation and it is dead stable with no wobble on landing, however, it wasn't always that way.
I have a PST1300 on mine which has a slightly higher residual thrust than the Jetcat that the previous owner had on it, as a result, Dean (the previous owner) had very little crow, only about 1/8" on the ailerons. When I landed with that amount it felt really wobbly, it didn't feel locked in and it came in pretty hot. I increased the crow to about 1/2" on the ailerons and now it's locked solid, no wobble, and comes in much slower. So anyway, long and short of it is, does the new kingcat feel better because of the airframe, or because of the crow? Not trying to sound like a skeptic, just trying to see what other differences there might be in the new kingcat.
Thanks
Jeremy

I didn't have the crow on the first one. But it also feels more stable on low and high speed passes. No visible tail wiggle. It could also be that I am a more experienced and confident pilot than before. Anyways, this and first generation KC are very good fliers.
