If you go with the 12Z you get the same programing and channels without the Windows CE software. It runs on Futaba systems. I have used the 5014 rx since April of 06 with no problems. I had it in a 40% extra with full wave pipes (bad rf enviroment) and now I have it in my Flash.

Although with the 12Z you loose 2 of the 4 sliders.

As for the PCM G3 issues, I fully agree with you, it is a bad designed receiver and Futaba should never have issued it! I also get annoyed by the way Futaba ignores or denies the PCM G3 issues by saying if you install it correctly it will work perfect, there skimming there responsibilities! (I dont use PCM G3 hence got a expensive receiver gathering dust because I dont trust it)
Mick,

If you do not use the G3, then how many channels can you do? 9?
Think you can do 12 with the Weatronic, but need to run in PPM, not PCM right?

Thanks,
Edgar

For the 12Z PCM1024 = 10 channels, PPM = 12 channels. G3 2.4 = 12 channels (when available)

PCM 1024 is only 8 proportional channels and 2 on/off, G3 is 12 proportional and 2 on/off for a total of 14 on 72mhz.

I have been in R/C since 1958, It is the best radio I have ever owned.
One thing, the color screen is hard to see in the daylight
All I fly is jet's never had a problem.
On the contary seeing the color screen in the day light is very easy... you let the sun shine directly on the screen you then can see everything in color, the best screen I've seen for outside bright sunlight viewing!

Edgar,

Question has been answered better than i could ever do.

I let futaba convert a R149DP PCM receiver from 9 to 10 channels. Loosing the ability of DSC but I can live with that

Cheers,

Mick.

Viperone, hi,

How did you get Futaba to convert the 149 rx to 10 channels ??? Can this be done by a service agent ???
I have the new 12FG set with a 5114 14rx, Dont know what to do re the A&B Mode and yet to fly it !!!!! Looking at this set as maybe leading into a 14MZ !!!!! But am weary at the moment---
Also i see Futaba dont recomend messing with the ARIEL and running a whip !!!!!! what do people think ????? im planing on a 12" whip---

Futaba service center(Great Planes) will convert the 149 to 10 channels. It is still only 8 proportional.

Mode A or B. Do a range check and see if there are any differences. Mode A is a faster response.

Futaba will never endorse some thing that they don't sell, don't expect them to change this policy for the whip antenna.
