Graphics question...

Guys,
I am finishing up a new 1/8th scale SM F-16 in the Thunderbirds paint scheme. The supplied graphics are OK, but I thought I might like to apply some more detailed stuff. Is there someone out there that makes graphics sets that you can apply without having to repaint the whole jet, or have to clear it when it's done? I would prefer to be able to purchase an already available package.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Beave

I can recommend [link=http://www.tailormadedecals.com]tailor made decals[/link].
Superb quality and you will get on top a CD which shows exactly where the decal has to be placed on the model!

Guys, beave wanted something that does not require clearcote. Basically all the mentioned suppliers require a clearcote. The only way to not clear it in my eyes would be to go vinyl....i don't know who supplies vinyl sheets for the t-birds though.

I can attest to that. I had pro-mark graphics on a plane for a couple of years (not clear coated) and wanted to make a couple of changes. I basically had to use fine grit sand paper and MEK to remove.

Sorry to correct you, but the water slide decals do not neccessarily need clearcote! I use them on all of my planes without! It depends what you want to reach. If you would like to have a super clean fabric new made plane with glossy finish, then you are correct.
If you would like to have a realstic apppearance with some dirt, scratches, removed paint here and there (weathering) than these decals are a perfect match.
Once they are set with the delivered liquids (set (vinegar based) and sol (softener)) you cannot remove them with water anymore! Kerosene also do not harm the surface of the decals!

Well, it looks like Tailor Made does not offer the "Thunderbird" decal set.
Solves that problem eh?

Sorry Andreas, i gotta disagree. I own the same printer as Tailormade and print on the same carrier paper, and believe me, without a clearcote they will not hold up to everyday flying, no matter how cautionately you apply them with SET and SOL. Just ask the guys over in the combat forum, a few weeks of flying (some of it in rain) reduced the decals by about 50%. Same came out with my testing on a HotSpot.
I ended up clearcoting all my decaled planes with a matte 2k automotive laquer and never had problems then.
True they will hold up a bit if always treated very carefully, but for everyday use clear is a must.
By the way, Tailormade also reccomends clearcote in his instructions.
