Brian,
If you get a good program how about sharing it with me? My Elan is on the way. Any special tricks or considerations in the building process?
If you haven't seen the video of Dennis and Paul flying the Elan, You should download it. It's great!
Haven't heard much from you lately. You been doing OK? Are you planning on going to Benton next week-end?

John,
Mine is also on the way, thought I would save some time and see if anyone already has a program that we could download. What are you putting in yours? I am putting the Simjet 2300 in mine.
Dennis- Would you email the program for the Elan?

Hello Brian,
I may be able to get it done this weekend. The computer I had the Data Safe on crashed. The DS program comes on floppy disks (Data Safe 1), and I no longer have a computer with a floppy drive. Earlier this week I got Horizon to email me the program, but I am on the road and cant' get to it until I get home.
The program is tweaked pretty good for all around flying, especially knife edge.
It will be tomorrow or Sunday before I can get to it. There are several of you guys wanting it, so I gotta get it done.
You are going to LOVE the Elan.
Dennis

Hey guys, Its a bit worrying when jet flyers need to download a set up programme for a trainer!...like asking for a programme for a Super 60 (trainer from the 70's)......Bit suspect about your flying talents!!!

The Elan is far more than just a trainer. It can be a two hundred mph speed demon with great aerobatic potential, or a very docile easy flying first or second jet. Come to think of it, It could be a good third, fourth, ... jet. It is all in the setup. With a larger motor, more power, and more speed, it can satisfy all but the most addicted adrenalin junkie. We, being power hungry Yanks, went for the larger motor. We make Alan cringe just talking about it!
Install a lighter motor like Alan suggests (Wren 54 Super Sport with 18 lbs thrust), and you will have a very lightly loaded floater that can land at a walk and still give a good rush when you push the throttle up. Either way, it definitely will save some programming time if one already has the program setup. We have programmed the mixes necessary to make it track from horizon to horizon on knife edge with only rudder input, on either left or right knife edge. Elevator to flap mix is already done, as well as travel adjustments, rates, etc, at least for our style of flying. When the first take off is made, some of the trepidation will be removed. You know it will be very close with no surprises.
I have flown the Baby, and I own the XL, and love them both, however, I think the Elan is going to be the biggest seller of all. It is just a great balance of the best features of both.

BTW, I probably didn't need to write a dissertation to explain the obvious, but I just couldn't help myself.
I know Paul was only poking fun at all his jet friends. I am sure there are many out there like me, lazy and wanting the path of least resistance.

While I am on a roll here, I tried to install the Data Safe program, but there is a problem with the file I was sent. I am going to have to get them to resend it to me Monday. It will be Monday night or Tuesday before I can get to it.

Thanks for time you're spending on this. It will be helpful to us.
I would say anyone that has the opportunity to use a tried and true, proven radio setup vs. an unknown.....is just a little bit off!

Horizon is having a problem with their proxy server blocking the file attachment of the Data Safe, so they are mailing it. I should have it by the weekend and will try again to upload the program to mississippijets.com

Okay guys, we have a problem. I now have the software from Horizon, I have son Paul's transmitter with the Elan program on it, I have the required buddy box cord, and finally the Data Safe interface. Now I am ready to copy the program to the computer, and I discover the Data Safe interface has an older generation 25 pin serial connector on it that my computer no longer has. I have several computers, but none of them have the correct 25 pin port. I will check with a few friends to see if they have a computer with the correct port type this weekend. If I can find one, I will try to get the program done by next Sunday night.

Sorry Dennis this is requiring so much work.
Sounds like nothing is going right for you on this.
I do want to thank you for going the extra mile to help us out with this.
