I start my A 10 Turbines with a Y to the throttle channel, each lead to a turbine with a switch between, so I can now start one at a time or both at once...

Hi snobird,

How does that switch work? Does it interrupt the signal line or the power line ?

Thanks,

Murray,

Since there is only one throttle stick/control, how do you intend to use two channels on throttle? Just curious.

Hi Craig,

I was thinking Throttle and an AUX channel mated, using a 3 way switch to start each engine separately. Haven't tried it yet, just a thought so far.

Interesting idea with potential if you have the extra channel. You would have to figure out a mix setup that will "hold" the non-starting engine at idle while you start the other. It's good to be able to shut down the second engine without shutting down the first, in case you get a bad start and want to try a restart. I accomplish that on my A-10 by momentarily disconnecting the ECU battery but the two channel method might also work. Good luck figuring that out.

Hi Bart,

I am expecting it for my 50th birthday in February. The wife has the quote from SM and fingers crossed it's happening.

I will post the throttle idea / mixing, when I have a chance to emulate it on the test bed shortly Craig. Should be something in there that will work. I have done this previously for twin gas engines on a 3 pos switch. just have to nut it out for the trim up requirements of the turbines probably. Time will tell.

On my other twins ( all Jetcats) I used to do the one immediate and other sequential as Ivan pointed out but have now changed them all over to both start at the same time as they are just so reliable. Best investment I ever made though is fitting the mini gsu's on board each plane so you can clearly see ignition and spool up.

JET CENTRAL, has the twin operations method in their turbine operations manual. The switch turns on the ECU etc.

Thanks,
Matt,

On my SM A-10 the throttle connection to each ECU goes to an individual switch. The switch wire then goes to a Y which then goes to the throttle "channel" on the Powerbox. During start, I turn the right engine switch off, the left engine switch on. Start the left engine, then turn the right engine switch on and move the throttle stick full up then full down. The right engine then begins the start process. It interrupts the signal, not the power.

No problem with Jeti DS-16, you just set up logical switch.

When I start the f14 build it will be setup with the DS16
It will have all Jeti telemetry as well.
