scale platform? F-16, F-15, or F-4. This will be my first scale jet. I flew airplanes for several years before switching to helicopters and now my airplane passion is pulling me back. Everything I've flown is scale so a trainer is out of the question. So the real question is: out of these 3 platforms, which one flies like a trainer so to speak? Thanks for the help in advance.

IMO the F15 is the most stable platform for your transiction to jets.

i figured the F 15 would be the most stable. A few years ago when I thought I was ready for jets there was only a few manufacturers of the F 15. Now there is a plethora of jet manufacturers that offer this jet. I'd like to go ARF but would consider building it.

If you like to go ARF to get up in the air fast then, consider the TamJets F-16, it looks good, better yet it builds fast and simple and the flying caracteristics of it are excellente, this is one little jet that doesn't like to stall .

Yup, the F-15 is the best most stable flier. The F-16 (not a BVM) is also pretty good. Definitely stay away from a F-4 for a first jet.

how bout ground handling on the f-16 compared to the f-15? i like the f-16 better than the f-15, but the f-16 looks squirly on the ground.

Not a thing, I see no problems at all on the ground handling on the F-16, I should know I have a Kangaroo, if you can control a Roo on the TO. run anything after that if a pice of cake.

For the F-16, if you take the time to align the wheels, it will track straight as an arrow ...... you just can't make any suddent turns at any kind of speed I have dual rates on my nosewheel steering..super high for close in manoevering, and really, really low, for take offs and landings. However.....

Even though I have a 16, I'd vote for the F-15...more wing area, bigger, easier to see

I agree with the opinions posted here... the F-15 and the F-16 are good choices, however the F-15 has a aditional advantage of not needing wheel doors to look decent, unlike the F-16. They are not very complicated to build and maintain, but they are extra work and a source of potential problems that the F-15 doesn´t needs.

The F-16 tracks well too on the take off run, even in a moderate crosswind... just don´t slam the rudder too hard at it, and you will have no issues.

IMO you can´t go wrong with both.. and perhaps you can try a F-4 as a fourth jet.
