can anybody give me a few suggestions on what jet kit to go with I want to start out with a ducted fan model first and then go with a turbine. what is the best manufacturer.

If you go with the Top Gun F-15 you will not be disappointed!!

If "money ain't a thang" go with a BVM Balsa Bandit. Put a DF in it first, then put a turbine in it. Either way you will have one of the best planes out there. You could do the same thing with the new BVM F-86 Sabre. (Great kit)

Or a Maverick pro is also a great trainer. I bet you could find one of those used this spring.

The TGA f-15 is probably the best low cost df jet.

Best advise would be to attend a Jet meet and see what you like.

Jet Hangar Hobbies has a ARF kit of the BAe Hawk, it uses a .46/48 size motor and turbax fan. Painting is done for you, its done in the Red Arrow's right out of the box. just put the stickers on it!!

And they fly pretty darn well!! Im just finishing mine and hope to fly it next weekend!!

The best advice is "DON'T DO IT".
Once you get one freaking jet going, you'll want another and another and so on.
You'll sell other crap to pay for more crap. Your fix will be the wine of the fan waiting to be in the air.

If you can get ahold of a "Byron F-16". That was my first jet.
I did'nt know a thing about DF's (still don't) and the people i was flying with were just scared of all the noise. The plane is very forgiving to fly and does'nt seem to have any bad habits.

I agree 100% with George. Just say no! while you can, when you have your first jet will be too late for you.

I begun with a Byron and believe it or not last week i had to sell my 2001 car to buy a 1994 car...the reason? a new jet.

Maybe in some months i will be under a bridge totally addicted!

STAY AWAY from jet rallies!!! I pitted for my buddy & his TGA F-15 at Michigan Jets last summer. Very intoxicating! I am now assembling a Kangaroo, Bought a CAI Razor for my second Jet.

As for the F-15 It has undergone turbine conversion... RAM 750F

I agree with the TGA F-15 pilots, It would be the best way to get into Jets. I see that you are from Chicago,IL , TGA is in Ottawa , IL, only a an hour or so away from you. I suggest a road trip! TGA is very customer service oriented especially toward the first time jet guys. Give them a call. You will be glad you did.

I agree with Dustin, I love BV's stuff. A friend of mine just bought a JHH Hawk, very prefabricated. I think if these things would have came out ten years ago, we'd all own one. I also saw Larry fly the prototype at Missouri Valley Jet Scramble last year. It really moved for a 45 size plane.

go with either a TGA F-15 or a YELLOW Starfire go ducted fan O.S..91 and use a dynamax fan unit if you get the F-15 us a Byron setup if you go tractor dont use bvm puffer pressure pipe cause if your pipe falls off your SOL. ----jeff
p.s. BVM is great but is a little expensive

If you are truly hooked then don't ever quit! It is much more expensive to buy this stuff all over again. Trust me, i've quit twice and now I fell off the wagon again
