Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Hi Guys,
Here is a very useful video for anybody considering a Weatronic Receiver. This 30 minute video features Ali talking about the main features of the unit, as well as software screenshots and examples of the benefits that these units can bring for you.
Due to the size of the videos, we have two versions:
[link=http://www.alsvideos.co.uk/video3.php?id=43]Medium Res (50meg)[/link]
[link=http://www.alsvideos.co.uk/video3.php?id=44]High Res (100meg)[/link]

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Ali-
Very cool video! It's nice to see an authority in the hobby take the time to explain how some of the high end electronics really work.
For me, I'm already convinced that I need to buy a Weatronics system for my next (whatever it may be) big project.
BTW, those are some very impressive numbers that the data logger collected (472 km/h = 295 mph!!).
Can't wait to see all of the RC related videos you put out.

Ali,
Very informative presentation, and a nice item of equipment to have onboard.
Looks very tempting, will have to speak to the man in the red suit!!

Alistair.

Just one very small correction Ali, different model memories are stored on your computer hard drive, not in the Rx. Apart from that, an excellent demo mate.

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
..................and that diagnosis of a tx fault becxause of a a low frame rate may very well not be correct. Low frame rate can be experienced in "difficult" (noise, intereference) RF conditions which are nothing to do with the Tx. RSSI strength or antenna selection is not an indication either because the unit look for the best signal QUALITY not just signal strength. In fact according to Alwin the DR can take bits of signal from each RX and add them together to produce workable frames to prevent the system needing to generate failsafe frames.
At the JWM in NI I had a brief moment of low frame rates in exactly the same spot on two different flights, the same spot other models were suffering failsafes and even a crash. Nothing to do with the Tx.
Other than that, an excellent video of one of the best pieces of electronics EVER offered to modellers.
Regards, David Gladwin.

I asked them the same just before JetPower, they replied : no.
(I guess someone must first "crack the new SS software codes". hehehe )
I fully agree with your thinking, the features of the Weatronic Rx (power management, programming and data logging), combined with Spread Spectrum, THAT would be the absolute ultimate system !!!!
Nicolas.

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Hi Guys
Sorry for the inaccuracies. This video was filmed pretty much in one hit and from the top of my head ( Where all the space is )
It came about as I have done a few club talks now where I have explained a little more about what these units are capable of, and each time it became more apparent that I was not the only one that hated to read pages and pages of text explaining equipment features. [:'(]
Toying with the idea of doing a set up demo video now....
Regards Al

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Hi Ali,
Thank you so much for doing this video!!
For those interested, there is a Weatronic support forum in which you can post questions share experiences and will get answers from either the Weatronic team or other Weatronic users.
The more information we share the better you will be able to understand and utilize your Weatronic DR's. It is also a source on new updates and trends going on.

Thanks again for the great Video Ali.
Gerhard

The Reverse engineering is no problem.
but if you can make a TX module for the 2 major brands , why bother?

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Great movie Ali. You almost cover everything, but I would like to point out a few things that either were not covered or were not right.
1. The servo synchronization feature will match not only end points and center. The user can chose up to 14 points on the primary servo curve and the unit will take readings at all points and match. This is very useful if servos do not move absolutely in unison.
2. Upgrading the firmware is via the SD card, not the USB connection.
3. In addition to the four voltage regulators for the servos, the Weatronic units have two voltage regulators for the receivers, so six voltage regulators total.
4. Towards the end, when you display all the items need to match the features of the Weatronic unit, after pointing to the sequencer you point to and say the PowerBox when it should have been the Weatronic unit.
Otherwise, as I said, very informative. I am hoping to show these units at an upcoming show/convention in January, they are really great units and a super purchase.
Cheers,
Jens Loengaa

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Towards the end of the video Ali said the LED on the switch only blinks when there is a problem, however mine blinks all the time when its on. I've never had any issues so when I heard this I was concerned. However when I read the instructions, pp 34, they clearly state the red LED will blink every 2 seconds and its normal, only when it goes to a double blink is there a problem. So I have to ask is it normal for the red LED to blink or not?

The red LED blinks when the receiver is on. That is just fine.
Also check the full answer in the following forum.

RE: Weatronic Introduction - A Video
Ali,
In the operating instructions page 30
2.4.3 Status Displays at the Control Board
At the control board there is only one flashing LED which displays the used battery: One single flash for battery 1, one double flash
For battery 2. A flashing LED is normal when the receiver is powered on. No LED would indicate a problem. This was stated in reverse in the video.
Thanks
Ken
