Default Commercial adds in Classifiedes??

I breeze through the classified section every now and then, only to find more and more classified adds cluttering up the page. What happens if every manufacturer/dealer joins the clan of spammers who do nothing other then put commercial adds in our classified section? I feel that this section is for us, not the commercial advertisers, and its getting out of hand. Who here feels the same?

100% agree with you and it would be easy to add a "commercial" page next to the "wanted" and "trade" pages so that people could choose to see or hide them.

Maybe they should just add a filter for the shopper to decide. IMO, when looking for a plane I usually know if I'm looking for new or used. Give the option when entering a new category to select private, commercial or both.

I have to agree with you Dave, I think it sucks to see so much commercialism in an area that's supposed to be for general user sales.

You'll also notice that the "established" retailers aren't posting there..... they don't need to.

Happy Holidays!

I'd prefer it to be just for the private sellers. To me, the worst are the ones like Flyingboyd's ads that aren't even an ad for a single item, but instead trying to shove a gazillion things down your throat at once so that when you click on the ad looking for an item that's mentioned in the title, you have to fight your way though crap-loads of other spam to try to find info on the title item... or just give up and vow never to buy anything from such sellers.

Due to the above, and also due to the fact that I keep seeing the exact same ad appear on 3 or 4 pages instead of only seeing it once, I have simply stopped viewing any of the classifieds - it's just a waste of time in most cases.

Thats kind of my point Gordon, the classifieds have "lost its luster" IMOH from being bombarded by all these commercial adds with stock overseas photos. The planes in the adds are most likely not even the one you will be receiving if/when you decide to buy one. I think the classified adds are very important to the community from both the buyer and the seller, and most likely not being utilized as much because people are aware that the majority of the adds are commercial. I placed an add today, I still feel that the classifieds are a great tool, but realize that it might get lost or overlooked because of all the other spam surrounding it.

Not a problem imo. The commercial adds (pro seller) are clearly marked and i can skip over them easily if i want to. Why have another seperate forum when we can look at everything on one ?? Just my 2cents

Boy, for a website that costs the members nothing, that is here for all to use of their own free will, there's an awful lot of complaining. I know a lot of people don't agree with all the rules, and I know a lot of people think the mod's do a poor job. The truth is, stuff gets missed, there is more than one moderator and the rules get enforced or interpreted differently at times. But the fact is, nobody is forcing anyone to be here, it's commercial ad's and site sponsors that keep this website running, yes you can upgrade membership but that again is your choice. This site is here for you, the members, but please remember that it isn't costing you anything, nobody is holding a gun to your head saying post on this site or else, we hear the comments like XXXXXXXXX.com has it figured out, yet the same people making those comments continually post here, it's your own free choice to be here.

I don't like all the rules in this world, but I live by them and if I break them I accept the consequences. I hate speed limits, but I abide fairly close to them, if I'm caught for speeding I pay the fine and accept that yes I was speeding etc. Nobody has forced me to drive, nor did they force me to speed, I drive by choice, if I speed it's my own stupidity.

The easy thing to do on this site is if you don't like the ad's that are listed "commercial" don't click on them, sure there's extra pages, but come on, the jet listings are rarely more than 5 pages long anyway, how long does it really take to scan through them? Particularly when new listings are marked "NEW", it takes me all of 30 seconds to see what's new in the classifieds. Seems pretty simple to me.

Just my 2 cents.

i dont mind!also this reminds me the prices of the new!

.........and if you notice
the jet ads never go over 3 pages ...so its okey..

.....i would like alot to see an option amerika/europe/asia category

so for me it would be more quick to find adds in europe insted search for..italy,then germany, then greece....and on and on...

Wel, this is a site which has been built up and improved many times over many years, based on use input... and that's exactly what this is.

BTW - just as you point out that we don't have to view the classifieds and complain about them if we don't like them (which many of us now don't due to the way they have metamorphasised), surely you don't have to view our feedback and complain about it of you don't like it ? I mean, the argument goes both ways - if you can comment negatively on our feedback, why can't we comment negatively on one or two aspects of the site ?

P. S One other aspect of this issue that should be carefully considered, is what the commercial advertises thinlk of such ads.

If I were Jetcat, Tamjets, or any other such banner advertiser I would be comparing the cost of the banner & the cost of a classified, and reconsidering whether the money paid for the banner ad was worthwhile. If you can get similar exposure for less money, maybe that's the way for them to go ... which could mean lost revenue for RCU etc. i.e you need to protect the investment of the major advertisers by providing sufficient differentiators between what they get and what the classified guys get away with.

I don't care either way as long as I can sell my stuff when I need to. Yeah, its selfish. I bought a jet from a vendor on the classifieds section and I've bought jets from private people on the classifieds. I haven't had a problem with it. [&:]

If I don't want to see the commercial ads then I don't.

Good point!! If they want to advertise a specific product, like one jet they have then no biggy, but if they are posting an ad for a type of jet and then they run out of stock that sucks!! I would be down with the filter options, sounds like a good solution, or even the separate sections, but that sounds like more work for the owners, doubt they would want to do that.

The PRO SELLERS help pay for the FREE forums.

I buy and sell through here quite a bit, I have no problem.

I once placed and add on the IMAA board and got 3-5 spams a day from having Email address listed!

The filter does exist for PRIVATE and PRO seller.

Just look in the left hand column: FILTERS

You can also select Ad Post Date, Item condition, Item type, Sold status.

It is really a non issue...if you don't want to view the commercial ads, then you can filter them out on the panel on the left hand side of your screen:

Set Defaults
Power Type

All • Diesel • Electric
Gas/Glow • Steam
Turbine • Unpowered
----------------

Ad Posted Date

All • Today's • Past Week
Since Last Visit
----------------

Item Condition

All • New in Box
New (Assembled)
Used (all grades)
----------------

Item Type

All • Kits • ARC • ARF • RTF
----------------

Pro/Private

All • Private • ProSellers
----------------

I think the real issue is getting rid of the Patriots, Eflite Airliners, flying meat trays, and Direct connection F-20's..........

Are all of those Fai Bao jets that are advertised ready for shipment if I buy one today? Or do I have to wait six weeks after it is paid for. Is it coming from the person that I am ording it from or is it getting drop shipped from China?

These are questions, not statements.
I'm not going into this discussion once I am a vendor but since I was mentioned in the thread, this is the answer to the questions. I work a lot to have all the items in stock but some of them run out very fast, I work to bring containers from China in a regular basis, but most of the products are sold in the container itself, so when this happens we drop ship from China in one to two weeks.
Sometimes the customer ask for a new paint scheme, Fei Bao does it for no additional charges but it would take about 5 to 6 weeks and some new models takes sometimes 4 weeks to delivery.
I am not list what I have in stock, but if you give me a call I'll be glad to inform you, and believe me I have a lot of models and a container full of them arriving on Dec 20th.
