Now that my Reaction 54 has flown more than15 flights and my Boomerang XL engine's problems have been fixed it is time to continue working on the Turbinator.

This time is to the finish line, I have my next project thought out and need the Turbinator done and flying.

Am also building one. Cut out all the parts myself and am in the process of getting ready to cover. Still saving for a turbine. First turbine even though I used to fly ducted fan jets.

QUESTION- Someone with a turbine waiver must test fly it for me and I can not fly it solo without a waiver legally. Is that correct?????? Am very new to turbines so just wondering. Thanks.

Correct, have the person that is going the help you with the training flights do the maiden for you, then you can body box with him right after that flight.

I was looking for a Kingtech K80 gold can for mine, one with low time as they are the cheapest 18 pounders you can find and have plenty of thrust to push it to a happy speed, I was fortunate enough to find the K80G1 with low time you see on the picture, old doesn't mean no good, I have a turbine that is nearly 20 years old and she is the best running turbine I ever had.
Keep us posted of your progress.

Tks.

Just got started on the covering. Decided to model the color scheme off of an old F-89 Scorpion. The turbinator is the extended wing version.

Still saving up for a turbine.......and thanks for clearing up my question Carlos R.

Nice looking Turbo you got there!

Did you know that you can fit a 100 oz Dubro fuel tank right over the CG, that will give you plenty fuel for an 8 minutes flight with a K80, I posted pictures of the little mods I did to secure it tight in there.

My wing also has the extended tips.
You probably end up covering your airplane before I cover mine, I got at least 6 projects, jet related going on right now, what's slowing me down is that I'm coming up with the scheme as I cover one half, the other side of the fuse will go much faster.

Looking good!
You will be happy with an 18 lbs turbine like the K80, that's what I got for mine.

Even though I have a cold, I'm pushing on the work to get this jet done soon, I've cleared my work bench from 2 other projects ( basically they are done ) to finish this Turbo, I will be posting pictures of the progress but no comments from my part, that's how it's going to go, let's do it.

Default What size turbine???

What size turbine is that Carlos?? I ended up with a new Jetcat 130 in mine due to the advice of Todd who is helping with my turbine waiver. Of course my Turbinator came in a little heavy so I bought a very nice Reaction 54 that is almost done with a new K-85 that I installed in it. Also have a Jetmach 44 and Jetmach 60 awaiting turbines and radio gear.

Looks great Carlos........keep up the good work and keep me posted. Alex

Thank you Alex! It's good to know that there are builders out there.

What you see there is a P80 none SE, 19 lbs thrust, 13 years old engine with less than 4 hours since new, weights 3.9 lbs.

Work will resume next Wen, have you seen my Reaction? Some time ago I had a thought of building a Jetmach SS. I didn't, I build me a R54 instead.

Alex, you will have a lots of fun with the K85 on the R54, I'm sure you have seen mine, with the tank configuration it has it can carry 90 oz. of usable fuel, with the K80G1 it weights 20 lbs dry.
