I have P80 in mine, ( at 3 lbs and 18 lbs thrust using almost 10oz @ min ) my plane came at about 21.5 lbs dry, the P80 pushes it just fine.

If you are looking to shave some ounces on the engine, the K86 weights the same as the K70 ( 2 lbs ) it’s only $100 more, it’s the same size, max rpm’s is 5K slower, the only difference is that it burns 2.5 more ounces per minute @ max rpms, in other words, for $100 more you get 3.5lbs more than the K70, that is a huge amount.

I find out some time ago that in order for a jet to fly ok it has to have a minimum of 65% thrust to its weight ( if the jet’s dry weight is 20 lbs then, it needs a minimum of 13 lbs to be fun to fly ) if this jet gets a 1:1 thrust ratio ( 20 lbs dry/20 lbs thrust ) then this is jet now is fun to fly, if this jet gets more thrust than 20 lbs of thrust then it becomes a super fun jet to fly.

ps: I’ve seen a 42lbs jet ready to TO and fly just fine with an 18 lbs AMT turbine 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hope this helps.

If you genuinely want to save fuel weight, do yourself a favor and get a Xicoy. INDEPENDENT testing (RCJI mag) shows that they consistently burn less fuel than comparable engines. Get yourself a X-95 which will have the same installation weight while having the ability to de-rate it within the ECU settings to a 70, 80 or whatever you like. They sip fuel by comparison.

Thank you guys for all your advice and experience. I guess that it´s wise to not go under 65% thrust to weight ratsio. The Xicoy X95 looks very tempting. I have never had a Xicoy turbine but I understand that the have a good reputation. Maybe I´ll go for one of these.
