I agree. I personally like the F5 and the F9F Cougar. There are lots of F16's out there attesting to it's popularity. It certainly is a personal thing.

Perhaps so many that it gets a bit boring? Even the Eurofighters and Sukhoi 27s are starting to be kind of common.

Personally, I'd go for non-scale or "fantasy scale" and do something unique.

There can never be too many F-16's !!!!!

It is a highly personal, subjective thing...Pick something that you like, see if it is available, determine if the size and price will fit your needs and go from there. I like all jets, so for me, it is a really tough decision process.......

I'd either go with a boomerang (Intro or Elan) which you can get from Altecare in Toronto, or a Reaction 54 kit from BTE engineering. Neither fits in the "good looking" category, however they fly well, and improtantly will give you the chance to be successful early on..
If you want scale, the PST Panther is a really really nice flying plane - a little more complex, but well worth the work to get it in the air. F-15's are supposed to be nice flyers, but I have seen three of them that were handfuls to land.

If I were looking at small good looking scale, I would look at the extensive line that http://www.jethangar.com/ has to offer. Well within the price range of the budget minded also.

Scale and as a starter jet to suit P-60 or P-80, and other 12-20 lb thrust turbines. I would highly recommend easy to see 'not to quick' jets with forgiving flight characteristics. There are others no doubt but these ones spring to mind for me as being classic examples and very popular being available from a variety of manufacturers and with many colour choice options also -

L-39
F9F Panther
T-33
MB-339
F-86
Mig-15
F-15

Phil,
we have a BOOMERANG ELAN and F-16 JETLEGEND ( never fly yet ), good choices with low cost, and, the F-16 the package include all you need to fly.

IMO/IME the P-80 is not a good choices, it has one of the worst spool up times of all the turbines and it's the same size/weight as a P-120. if you're going to that size/weight might as well get the 120 SE and have the quick spool time and the extra thrust when needed.
