Hello brothers.
I have walked through the doors and entered the House of BVM. Though it is an older bible, an Agressor 2, I ask to be accepted into the parish and join the faithful.
So rise up and lend a hand.
Post your pics of your Turbine conversion on your Agressor's and help a fellow follower as I begin the steps of anointment.
Thank you and bless thee

Hello,
Plan out the fuel tank install as job 1. One option is to mount the turbine very far aft (around the rear of the hatch cut out) and out a big tank right over the CG.
Figure out what landing gear you are going to use fairly early on as well.
Stock wing design/build should be OK. Did you get the BVM wing skins? Are they in decent shape?
Regards,
PS what turbine are you looking at using?

Mr. Matt
The skins are in there still wrapped in the foam. Havn't unwrapped them to look yet. Everything is in there. all the inlets and ducting for ducted fan. I know I won't be useing alot of the ducting. I plan on doing a nonbypass set up. Probably will remold the Inlets and I would like to get a minumum of 64oz of fuel. I plan to install a Wren MW54 in it. Not sure of what gear I will use yet.
Do you Have any pics?
Thanks
Joe

Joe,
There is a turbine conversion kit available that will fit your Aggressor.....See [link=http://www.angelfire.com/wi/jettech/pages.html]Jet Tech LLC [/link]www.angelfire.com/wi/jettech/pages.html
Or, Google "Gary Mueller Jet Tech" for the link.
Gary offers a conversion kit consisting of the correct inlets, Kevlar fuel cells and double wall exhaust pipe to fit your airplane.
The BVM bypass tube and adapter ring are available seperatly from BVM.
I would advise you to use the bypass tube, as the exhaust pipe is sized to fit the aft end, and the airplane will perform better with it. The BVM bypass tube is also the BVM engine mounting system, saving you many additional hours conjuring up a plenum style engine mount.
After loading the Jet Tech conversion installation.
Quite a few of Gary's conversions are flying out there, and Gary's kit is by far the best and simplest method that I have seen for converting a Mav or Aggressor to turbine power.
The conversion kit is $485.00, and the BVM bypass tube, cover and adapter ring will run you an additional $250.00
BTW, the JetCat P-60 or P-70 would be ideal.
Good luck to ya, and welcome to the wonderful world of turbines!!!

Hi Joe,
I will poke around for pics, my friend Bob Wilcox had a non ducted turbine install in an old Maverick, I think he had a 64 nalgene right over the CG, unducted of course, but with a small FD3/67 mounted very far aft. I agree with Harley, if Gary Mueller's system will work it is very nice (you end up with a mini bandit) but I don't know if it can be adapted to your older style fuselage.

Joe,
Harley is spot on with what he posted above. I converted a Maverick with a conversion kit from Gary Mueller and it works great. I would do it again in a heart beat! I am using a JetCat P-60, and we are getting comfortable 7 min flights. I think I read somewhere that the Maverick and the Agressor fuse are similar if not identical, so I can venture a guess you would have no problem. Also I think Gary used to supply with the kit a CD with lots of pics to aid in the install.
Think about flaps for drag to get her slowed down on final. Good luck with your new project!

Joe,
That's a great looking Sabre!
The major difference between the Maverick and the Agressor fuselages was the fiberglass layup schedule. As I recall, the fuselages came from the same mold....BVM has more than one set, but they are the same until time for the layup. More carbon is used in the Agressor and Viper.
The same fuselage mold took care of the Maverick, Maverick Pro, Agressor and the Viper....the wings were design specific, and featured different planforms and areas.
A Wren should be a good powerplant for it, but as you can tell, I'm just a little partial to JetCat.
Another good power system would be the BVM EVF system....the latest highest attained speed for the Electra is 211 MPH....that is really scooting for an electric.

Joe,
The conversion kit works well but it's not necessary. Save yourself the $700+ and do it non-bypassed. It should fly well with a Wren 54.
Here's how I did my Maverick

Hi Harley,
The Maverick was the first kit from the new molds (that had the seperate canopy hatch molding, the 2 piece plug in wing, and would accomodate the Sullivan 11 ounce DF tanks). IIRC, this fuse molding was indeed shared with the Maverick Pro, the Ultra Viper and the Aggressor 3. The kit in the picture is of an early Aggressor (or Aggressor II, I can't remember) which I THOUGHT was from a different mold.
Still I am not sure Gary's will fit, but if it would I would encourage that as I have always wanted to try that with an old Ultra Viper kit I have, but I am thinking more about an electric Viofan for that one!!

MR Matt is right,Aggressor II fuse is smaller than the Aggressor III,Maverick, and the Ultra Viper fuses.Gary's conversion is for the latter fuses.I have done 3 of these conversions, just finishing a Ultra Viper, with Maverick wings and full Mueller converson with bypass and JeT Tech tanks. The problem with the Aggressor II is the wing area when weighted down with the fuel, and room in the fuse for equipment.

Jet Lag chimmed in before I could. PLEASE BE AWARE the Aggressor II is a lot smaller than the Maverick / Agg III & Ultra Vipers. I have had a few of these over the years. If a turbine conversion is what you seek with an Agg II, I would actually recommend a Wren 44, smaller, less fuel to carry, lighter, and will have MORE than enough power to fly an AggII. If built lightly, we used to bring these planes in in the 10# range.
Good Luck, and I look forward to seeing this one progress.

Thanks for all the advice guys
I will take all into consideration when I start the build in about a week or two. As for the Wren, I currently fly it in a Falcon 120 with 64 oz's of fuel. At 6 minutes of flight I land with about 1/2 a tank left. I think I can get at least 50 oz's in the Agreesor and that should be good for at least 5 minutes of flight.
I know this is a tight plane and install but I had a similer set with my Simjett 1200 in an Exterminator, It was tight as well and alot smaller then the Agressor.
Thanks Again
