Hi Joe
I would like to use the dummies turbo-fan for flying. I saw your thread about it. Don't you have any problem with gyroscopic effects on the structure? Have you detailled pics of the buiding ?
Best Regards
Stan

You to mister
Now 232 flights later!
Engines dead stick.
One running
Ice on the wings about 1" thick, she still flys.
What a great bird, waiting for the 2 P-200 to come back from service.
Then fly all winter!

During a routine inspection of my G4, I found that the spot welds of the tail pipes are coming apart (about 40 flights).
This could lead to potential burning of the fibre tail tube.
I don't have access to a reliable spot welder, so I am going to try to drill thru in about 3 places and bolt it with 4/40 hex screws and washers and nuts. Also, I will fill the gap with JB Weld (I don't think that high temp silicone will last).
Any better ideas?
Will advise about the repair.
Happy New Year
Jack

Stan
I read something about an A10 flying with less than 20kg, i now that has smaller turbines, and no bombs, lights.... You are right about 34 kg in yours?

I think you are mentioning the A10 known under DrBrossinger forum. In fact I'm in a totally different way of thinking. The reglementation is more complicated in germany and it's important to be under the 20Kg limit. To cope with this limit the sacrifice is huge. "DrBrossinger" don't have any missile, any pylon, any moving slat, any opening canopy, any light, any exaust tube, very few fuel and no...paint !!!!! Only logos are painted directly on gelcoat!
My opinion is totally different : this is a huge and fantastic aircraft. So I prefer all the details I build in mine ( slats, canopy, refueling door, lights, full armament, paint and weathering....) and a good quantity of fuel. I made a special tank and the total fuel at take-off is 9 liters so 7,2 kg.
My take-off weight is 34 Kg
Dry operating weight is 26,8 Kg ( weight without fuel)
And thanks to the 2x160N engines I have a good reserve of power even in case of an engine flame out.
Another very important thing to my opinion : A jet have to fly like a jet and no like a Piper Cub or a glider who are very sensible to atmospheric turb and wind. To be realistic, we have to pilot with inertial on the 3 axis, straight trajectory and feel the air moving all around during a low pass ....
This aircraft at this weight is a dream !
But everyone have to respect his local reglementation so ... do what you are allowed to do
