I am wondering if the JR 215 arms are working for the rudders and flaps?

my backup is the swb arm for a clevis at 1".

i found some cool flush servo mounts on dreaworks rc for 8711s.

I know the servo arms from SWB are good but a year ago found this German outfit who make a seriously good servo arm range, their new XTorque are very good.

The beauty of these arms is the material is a carbon injected ABS which is bullet proof and not subject to becoming brittle, a metal spline bush is embedded into the arm to give a great fit on servo splines and best of all the end where the linkage fits is Y formed (allowing ball links to be used safely) so the loads are centralised on the arm and results in what I recon is the best solution to all servo arm requirements. The only down side is sometimes as the arm is Y'd at the end it may not work in some confined spaces.

Check them out, great products.

Thanks Marc,
I had seen these long ago but forgot about them, thanks for the reminder!
Can anyone shed some light on the length needed for the various surfaces ?
Would be nice to be able to order the right ones the first time

Great arms. Only downside is sometimes you need quite wide slots in the surface to accommodate the y part of the arm and ball link.

Coming back to SWB, another option are the metal arms with delrin inserts that allow the metal quick link clevis to be used on the servo arm end. Take a look... http://www.swbmfg.com/products/Futab...or-Clevis.html

Thanks for the pics. Does the thread turn through the brass piece or does the thread move in/out of the actuator?

Wondering about wear is all.

Hi Stan and Bleu.
Very nice!
However, a small rectification: is not the Gen 5 gear, but "Gen 4 electric gear version".

Gen 5 gear has a completely different set of retract walls/ cinematics for the mains. The electrical motor on the main retract on the Gen 5 gear is facing forward and not aft like on this one, so that the rear door can be actuated scale.
This was one of my specific requirements to Bogo and he had to re-work the design that you're showing here.
Also, the cinematics was re-worked to get a perfect scale strut angle when extended.

Here is the 3D printed mockup that bogo presented to me a while ago:

We went through a considerable amount of work to produce the new Gen 5 kit. It is not just re-branded Gen 4 options put all together. EVERYTHING has been re-worked, optimized for weight and scale acuracy as well as reliability. This is partly why we pushed the delivery to our customers a bit.

If you don't mind, I'd be interested to see a video of your gear in action though.

Gen 5 will be shipped to the first customers in a few weeks from now.
Improvements from Gen 4:

The plane is now 100% electrically operated. No pneumatic system on board.
New landing gear with improved cinematics. Now 100% scale. The gear is 100% 7075 aluminum made and is using Behotec electric actuators and controller. Steering servo mounted on the strut with direct control.
The plane comes with the gear mounted and all doors mounted and actuated. The rear main gear door is now 100% scale.
New and improved airplane internals. Stronger and slightly lighter than Gen 4. main gear mounts reinforced, fuselage hatch area reinforced.
Possibility to choose between a scale engine installation of offset engine installation to reduce the pitching moment.
New cockpit.
New canopy system with a 100% scale cinematics. Already assembled, ready to mount on the plane.
New rotating fans now bearing mounted. They can be left on board for the flight providing thrust is enough ( 140 N or more ).
Extra work packages available to get all the scale scoops and details mounted at the factory.

As the plane will use a lot of electrical power, we are preparing very high quality A123 packs for it.

Interesting! Does that mean that us poor people who only have Gen 4 need to remove the fans before flying if using P100 engines ?
One of the guys here in Denmark is flying his Gen 3 with P100s and the fans in place, seems to work alright ?

Well, the fans generate a lot of drag. I would not recommend going below a Merlin 140 with the fans in place for flying ( 140N ).
It would work fine until you have an engine failure. With a P-100 setup, you'd be pretty much flying with an aerobrake deployed on the wrong side of the plane and a 40% weight to trust ratio from the other side ( about 10 N of thrust lost due to the fan drag )...

Also I'd highly recommend to fit bearings on the older fan system to avoid balance generated vibrations.

The solution to this dilemma is to fit an ASSI system that would give you a nice engine failure warning so that you can cut the thrust on the live engine in due time to avoid a possible flat spin if below VMCA

Thanks for input Oli!
Now, if I only could find a 140N engine at the same weight as a P100RX ?
Have 2 new P100RX waiting to get installed in my A10, and I would hate to remove the fans as they look ....

Added a comment above with the solution to your problem.
In one word: ASSI.

ROFL
Ahh, the ASSI device, thats a good idea Don't worry, there will be dual ASSI devices and multiple LCD displays (and maybe a new 18 channel SBUS2 extender if I'm going to finish it) in my A10
Seeing the other A10 (Martin_W) flying with 2 P100RX and the fans in place looked very nice so I think it will be ok. I will program a 3 point switch so it is possible to cut one engine to idle when flying to see how the plane behaves should an engine go dead during flight

Hello Carsten,

flying the A10 with only one P100 isn`t a Problem. You know Michi, the other german guy, who was with us in Holstebro has had some Problems with one engine in his A10 a few weeks ago. The engine went of. To fly the plane after that was no Problem.

See you next year in Holstebro again.
Best regards,
Karsten
