Hi,
does any one have good references, photos, plans, line drawings, scale views, etc... for the Lockheed X-35. I want to build a 1/6 scale version of this bird, so any info or any help with the stuff mentioned above would be great,

Check out http://www.laserlizard.com/ they have one they are cutting.

The X35 kit being cut by Lazer lizard is going to be avaliable through Oakdale Aircraft. It's designed specificaly around the .18 Toki engine. Right now, the prototypes are going through their final stages of test flights and will be avaliable to the public shortly.

This is the small X35 (3') that Oakdale Aircraft will be releasing. The Toki.18 D/F produces good enough thrust to power up this 3.25lb model. The big turbine version (5'6") is coming soon.

The first one that I built was somewhat this size (8'10") to be powered by AMT450. Test flying an unproven design with 45lbs thrust turbine is no kidding. So I decided to do a smaller turbine version (5'6") to be powered by MW54 based turbine. Here is a picture of the two (shows the fore fuse only of the 8'10" because I intended to do 2 parts for easy transportation).

Your drawing looks nice. Is it drawn in 3D? Take more picts and keep us updated on the progress. Look luck and all the best to you.

this flat is designed with a 2d cad program I took a picture from the lockheed website, this increased and designed the top and site view.

the bulkheads are a problem! I bought in addition a model of the revell company 1/7.

perhaps you can help me there, with a few cross sections?

Hi Rceris,

Although not impossible, building a model from 2D top/side/front views requires lots of trail and error to produce correct contour for smooth surface.

I hired a CAD operator (and also learning hard myself) to draw the X35 in 3D, which allows us to amend and 'loft' the surface for preview. Also, I need my friend in States (now running Oakdaleaircraft.com to market the X35), a 3D model expert to get all things done.

I know Oakdaleaircraft will produce a CAD print plan with formers which should help your construction.

it is of advantage, if you can use a 3d cad program.
so you can design flowing transitions.
which uses you?

by top- and site-view i has the important reference-scores.

in addition, from this i design the frames, somewhat more complicated, but it will go!
i will manufacture these first with thick cardboard and on a railing set.

if everything is correct, I transfer these on the wood.

The outline of your drawing looks OK, but I have difficulties to judge whether the contour is correct or not from a 2D top view drawing. Correct contour is the key to make smooth surface. Do the have the formers drawings?
