GNM Facet help

I have just finished assembling my Wren MW54 and am looking for a suitable airframe. This is my first Turbine so I want to keep things simple, also I fly of grass, so I am looking for short field performance. I am leaning towards the GNM Facet, just love the look of it!, but I just wondered what you guys think? Good Turbine Trainer? or should I consider something else?
Thanks

The Facet will be the perfect match. I had the first production kit that flew at FJ 2003. I had 5 flights at FJ and unfortunately it got stolen 2 days after I returned home, so I never got any more flights. My second Facet is just about done and flight testing should be next weekend. It flies very nice with no bad habits. It was a bit windy, so I never landed with the flaps, but play with the flaps at altitude and it slowed right up.
Good luck with your choice.

Stuart,
I've seen the 1200 fly many times, flies great. I'm finishing up a 2300, hopefully I'll be ready to fly by the end of the month. I'm with you on the looks, it's different than all the 'roo clones out there plus it's relatively cheap: no retracts, can cover it with Monokote, etc, and easy to build. The guys at GNM are great to deal with, I bought my SIMJET 2300 from them.
I'd say "go for it!"
Regards,
Jon

Stuart,
I have a little bit of flight time on the 1200 and I am in the process of building a 1200 series for an RCJI review. I got to fly my buddy Georges at FJ and was amazed at how stable the plane was. Surprisingly fast for this type of plane. I am quite impressed with the quality of the kit and the flight performance. I would imagine this would be a great grass/short field airplane, it's structure is extremely strong, rugged and well thought out. You can use standard ball bearing servos on everything except the elevator which I would suggest a high torque (80+ oz/in) servo. Landing gear is very strong and the included nose gear leg is very well made. At 289.00 + 50.00 in wood and accessories you really cant go wrong with the Facet. Certainly a better "trainer" than a Roo or Spot and much more suited for grass field ops.
Looking forward to finishing mine up
....
Just my first impressions....

Sung, I'm fairly sure it is on the SKS video. (I need to get one
) John, I know Mark Frankel (Sp?) got some video, but not sure if here's on RCU. Kerry S. probably has the same video, but I'm sure he doesn't have a way to post it.
I'm going to try and get some video next weekend of "#2". We'll see.

Hi All:
Yes, as George has indicated, Mark Frankel has excellent video of George's flights at Florida Jets and has provided a copy to me.
Unfortunately, I do not know how to get this video posted. Can someone help with a procedure ? Where to purchace or download Software ?
George , it looks like there "may" be at least 4 Facets at Fentress, (3-1200's and my 2300) not including the 2300's under construction by Ron and Mark in MD and Jon VanSkiver in NJ
On another note of interest: a FACET-2400T is in the design phase which will feature 2) Simjet-1200s Nacelle mounted under the wings. :surprised
I'm sure that the fella working on this will provide more information as this project progresses.
Looking forward to Fentress. (May 24/25, 2003)

I am almost finished with my 1200. I have yet to cover it and install the electonics. It is fairly simple to built and does so quickly. Mr. Sterner's plans and short kit are excellent and the laser cut parts fit together very nicely. I have yet to fly it, but it looks really good and is a very simple design. I hope to have it in the air by summer.

If anybody wishes to see a video of the Facet it is on the Simjet website curtesy of SKS videos. It is a small screen but you can see the qualities of the plane. West London Models, the joint Uk distributer of Simjet, has chosen this aircraft as a demonstrator/trainer for there outlet
