A winter weekend project
With nothing to do but look at 10" of snow I build a "slide" to get my jets out of the back of my pickup truck. The past summer I had to jump up inside, retract the wheels and climb back out. I made this setup that works great. It is my boomerang XL. The wings sit on the upper shelf and the twin booms just sit along the fuse. With this setup I can also carry my Velox on the upper shelf. Total cost was around $25. The back of my truck is carpeted so I put velcro on the underside and it stays put.......

RE: A winter weekend project
Hi Hoss:
Where did you get the roller rails.....I have wood sliding on wood with angle stock on the sides to position them in my 6X12 trailer, but with temp and humidity changes, sometimes a beach to slide them.....Dave E. and I have both been thinking about doing something similar to our trailers.....
Hope to cu up in Fondy come spring.....our runways now 200 X 850 vs 700 last year.....so should be no problem getting that Boomer down and stopped.....
Tom

Hi Tom,,,, I hang garage doors as part of my busness. Those are garage door rails and rollers. Talk to Dave, he should have my phone number and I could explain how to build one. It's simple.
As far as flying off your field, I have done it a few times already with my boomer. Your air field is like a pool table. NICE..... I have been invited by Dave E to come up in spring to fly and I am planning on taking him up on that offer.
Take care Tom and hope to meet you some day

I take it that pin at the aft end of the sliding tray locks to the base to prevent sliding fore and aft in transit?
Nice idea. Thought that looked like garage door "J" track.
Cool.

I think we met at either the July FunFly or August Midwest Warbird Meet in Fondy last year briefly......I think you had a jet, but not sure if you flew.....I was either flying my big BVM Saber or my Kingcat.......
In any case, hope to see you again, come spring.......I'm gonna be down in Burlington, where my son lives, tomorrow for a family birthday party.........his father-in-law owns Burlington Lumber.....not sure if you work at all in that area.....his name is Ed Impens.....I'll chat with him about rounding up some parts........
.
Thanks again Hoss.....great idea!!

Sdcrashmaster,
Yes that pin in the front is to keep it from sliding. But it wasn't needed. When I close the tailgate it's not moving anywhere. And yes again, those are vertical tracks for a overhead garage door. Thanks for the reply

Tom,
I will be helping Tom Ryan make one for his trailer. He has a covered snowmobile trailer. The advantage to a trailer is that you can mount it to the trailer floor. I had to make a base for mine cause I didn't want to drill holes in the floor of my new truck. As soon as it warms up a bit, Tom will be bringing his trailer to my shop and in a matter of a couple hours it will be finished.
