Iam not using any mix, half throttle it flair,s up a bit but controlable about 70 degrees down flap, Am still getting the hang of it being my first jet I thing if I come back a bit on the throttle it won,t flair as much, all in all it,s a dream to fly and a pussie to land .

I'm gonna call Bruce to get another one of the same color scheme. That jet is too much fun to go without.
My Pro-Link gear is safe, I had them retracted after lift-off... that will save me a few pennies. [8D]

Just got off the phone with Bruce. (I'm glad he answered the phone for me, but take the day off.. it's Sunday )
I have the Blue and Yellow "X" version (long nose) in the works for delivery... I like the look of the long nose

Well here it is all finished. Weight came out to 26lbs and some change. Will try to maiden it at the first of the week.

Hi,
very nice simple scheme. I think I see a S/Sport in the rear end which is what mine has successfully flown on for a while now. You wont need the air brake in my opinion just chop the throttle when lined up and she will come in a treat.
I found I needed 3/4 throttle with the flaps and gear down to keep her going on the down wind leg. Also I found it useful to decrease the acceleration delay to about 8 and also set a second condition on your Tx to increase the idle level in flight and to revert to the default condition of normal low idle when the the condition is switched by the gear down switch.
I have a 12FG Tx and the level was around 69 for "idle up " so to speak. Its worth programming this on the ground, engine running so you can hear the change in engine note as the change comes in on the last few clicks around 69 on the 12 FG.
This gave me very crisp throttle response and the advantage of low residual thrust of the smaller engine for landing. Beware that over egging the acceleration delay setting as this can lead to a flame-out so ground test runs are advisable.
It will fly very nicely.

Thank you for the tips. I have one question about the acceleration delay (turbine parameters), I live in Florida, about the middle of the state, our alltitude is maybe 10 to 15 feet above sea level. Are there any other settings that you can think of that should be changed?

Good point as I live in UK a far more humid and lower temp climate to say the least I suggest a word with your local Wren rep would be better here as I have no knowledge of how to advise you on this particular point and would not want to be advising wrongly here. Perhaps for the moment just raise the idle as describe as this gives a snappier response anyway as the turbine is being asked to spool over a shorter range from its now perceived idle rpm.

I am going larger on my engine size to the 120 SX , whilst the Reaction flies fine on the S/Sport I would like a little more punch. At 28lb out of the box this would make 1:1 a very straight forward affair. I will probably down the top rpm in the early flights but the question is although the 120 SX chart shows 1lb at idle does anyone have actual knowledge if this means no speed brake required as i noticed the larger variety of engines seem to fit this.

i have a P-120 in my reaction arf........i don't have the speed brake installed.....the idle thrust of the P-120 causes no problems during landing............

my first reaction was powered by a 120 SX. It was a hell of allot of fun. I flew it loads at full power ( Not full power dives but pretty much everything else ) It did require a little more down thrust to keep it going straight at high power settings..
Idle thrust... No issues what so ever. 90 Deg of flap takes care of that.

P.S We had a customer lose a reaction yesterday due to the elevator horn pulling out of the elevator. It was Hysol'd in place but pulled the wood out from the block. It was only on a P-70 powered example so I think its fair to say it was not flown too hard. The only thing we can think of right now is that the elevator was knocked/ damaged in transit at some point. Either way its worth checking this.

Thank you for the info re the 120.
In fact I have long since thought the elevator horn is suspect for wear and tear since one is always disconnecting the elevator clevis and wearing the hole. It also looked a bit light for my overbuild instincts.
I have modified mine to take a 3 mm bolt and horn which seems to work well. I might just pin it through to th top surface since your friends incident !

I just got my new P80se for the reaction. On the engine mounts there is a line to cut along for the PST larger engine, does this line need to be cut to fit the Jetcat?

The all new PST Reaction X 'Long Nose' has arrived a few days ago, and I really like the long nose.
I'll get to work on it this week. This jet will have the very same markings/ features as my past Reaction ARF. I plan on the maiden in the beginning of October.

maybe consider this type of nose fixing rather than the ring of screws. I will sink the cap head bolt into the nose cone later which will disguise it a little better. Also I will put a screw into the block on the underside of the fuselage just as a second safety. This way I can remove the nose cone for charging/balancing the A123 cells with ease. Early indications are it will work quite well I feel.

you are right and that is exactly what I shall probably do, however when you have had a Lipo fire in the nose when charging you might feel the same about getting the nose off quickly (see post 385). This is why I changed to A123 cells which are safer in this respect in my opinion but I will still charge at home now with the nose off when I can conveniently do so. This must be quicker and more convenient than undoing x number of screws.
Anyhow it works for me
